Mixing/Mastering / Re: Mixing without monitors

You gotta use both perspectives, but mostly rely on the monitors.

I pop my headphones on just to get a different perspective and to look at some tiny details. i'd consider it to be a microscope.
Yes +1 to this

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Why do you do it?
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:16:03 pm »
This is a really good question, and furthermore it's one that I think all musicians/producers/etc. should ask themselves often. It's good to reflect on why you're here and why you do what you do, without reflecting on that you can become really lost in the superficial things.
I'm here because I really really love it. I started making music while on vacation with my family when I was 16 (22 years old now), and I feel like the whole time I was just smiling and laughing because it felt so cool to be MAKING a song. I've listened to tons of music all my life, music has always been really important to me.. so being able to make music, my own music with my own message, was really exciting to me. As I've continued on I think my intent has shifted here and there, but it's only ever shifted to a different message, it's never shifted to doing it for money or fame.
I think if you are motivated by things that have an attainable "end", then you're eventually bound to fall.. If I was motivated to just make millions, and then I did, why would I make music anymore? That's why I choose to make it because I love it, because that's something that can never run dry

cheers!
Those feelings when you've just finished a song.

You need to share the private link, so we can listen to it. ;)
I did. Soundcloud was having issues this morning and private tracks weren't showing up. It should work now.
We need you to press the "share" buttons on soundcloud to have access to the private link.

WIPs / Re: Breakbeat? Idk, something different for me.
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:06:27 pm »
I like this beat. Reminds me of some old school hip hop. Personally I'd add a little more reverb on some parts.

Yeah, it's more like trip hop than actual breakbeat. I like the actual sounding. Could use some drums variation but it's fine. I like the scratch part. Make it funky.

Good so far.

WIPs / Re: Mind Disorder - Fire (Drum & Bass)
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:02:30 pm »
Hey,

So I've seen Drum & Bass, so because i'm a fan, I though i could see.

So first of all, it hasn't enough high end. It's a big issues that appears alot while mastering fast tempo tracks. So the mix is fin, but there's not enough High and High Mid Frequencies. try adding a wet pad (supersaws) in the back ground to fill the High frequencies.

Anyway, this sounds very good. I liked the vocal. Melody could use some variation but it's fine that way. I like the drums.

Good work ;)

You start with a single track and try building around it to have linked track. Or if you have few tracks in the making, put them together.

20 - 200 Hz : Body, Shape, Curve, Warmth/heat)
200 - 1500 Hz : Thickness, Energy
1500 - 4000Hz : Agressivity
4000 Hz - 20 kHz : Clarity, Shine, airiness.

this could be usefull. Although, It's based on preferences.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: How do you speed up the process?
« on: January 08, 2016, 04:04:45 pm »
I make drums first, choose the correct sample and mix them together.

then
The easiest and fastest method would be making chords > bass > melody

Then make a drop, then everything else.

To improve your workflow, trying linking everything you like. If you have certain taste for the drums, put them in the same folder, if you like some specific sounding, do it before starting any track, then save the presets and use them when you need it.

i'm mostly inspired by tracks more than by people. I mean by that, that a certain sound, track, song can inspire me without me actually liking the artist.

Although, I can say that Varien's style, Wontolla, Xilent glitchness, Savant randomness, are pretty inspiring to me. But It's more about their sounding than the person itself. (Not saying they are bad producers or that I don't like them, they're my favs)

ninth parallel's spent 600 hours over 5 project files on infinitum so far hah

Yeah my last song 'Verloren' took around 400 hours, and my upcoming single 'Infinitum' has around 600-700 hours on it.. not something I'm very proud of but people are usually impressed haha
400 HOURS, this is alot.O_O

R&A Graveyard / Re: Section for Artwork?
« on: January 08, 2016, 03:56:47 pm »
Perhaps a section for producer's to suggest how or who they get the artwork.

Maybe even Photoshop / Gimp / Inkscape tip threads.
As Mat_Zo said, it's a forum based for music producer. A thread like that could be usefull for people who don't have connection, but i'm sure it won't see the daylight.
