Sound Design / Re: How do you learn all those terminologies?

Google everything you don't understand.

It took me 2-3 months to understand ADSR or anything related.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: How should you layer supersaws?
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:17:24 pm »
I normally have 4-6 different pad/attack layers, plus 2-3 bass layers.  It's not about loudness, but more about thickness and texture.  The term "supersaw" refers to a bunch of slightly detuned saws put together, and generally the more saws you add, the better it sounds.  Of course there is a limit when adding more layers makes everything worse, but I don't think that the "less is more" principle applies here.  Or maybe it's just me...
You're right and you're wrong. I mean, it's up to what you like. Also, having 2-3 basses can really mess with the frequencies if it's not mixed correctly.

Heyo,

This is dope. It's not clipping but I feel like it's heavily compressed.

Nice work.

Ohayo,

I like this. It's very future bass based. Kick/Snare are perfect. The intro with the 8bit sounding is gorgeous. I like the synths you've used. Melodies are efficient, chords well used. There's not much thing to say about it. It has variation, it's not boring.

Good track :D Keep it up !

Could go in Sound Design. Since the term doesn't actually represent, creating a sound.

I have max 2 layers, but only because I like to pan them.

The phrase of death often heard by amateur and professional electronic musicians alike: "There's millions of people out there doing the exact same thing you are!"

It kills us all, and we certainly hate hearing it. But it is not always true. Think for a bit. What do you do that you know is uniquely you? Something that sets you apart from being a generic anybody.

If you can't happen to find anything, ponder for a while, and think about some of the things you could do that will enhance the unique personality in your music!
I know it has been a issue seen on the EDM mainstream scene for 2-3 years now but does it really matter ? I mean, If we want to make a certain type of music, are we forced to innovate ?

Music exist know for a very long time, and there's not alot of chord progression that are actually unique. It probably happened to everyone at a certain time, when you remake the famous "toccata" arp from scratch without even knowing what you're doing.

Innovation comes by looking and trying to make like everyone else. that's my opinion, tho, could be wrong.

sorry didnt realize private links didn't work if given the url, what's the point of that?

fixed i think
"Private", you can share by clicking the share buttons and it will give you a private link.

Although, here's a thing. Both genres here, Drum&Bass and Hip Hop, have differents drums pattern. Mixing them together could create some kind of rythm that won't really fit. (Drum&Bass is more like 4/4 and Hip Hop 2/4) Although, it does have some potential. Sounds more like Hip Hop than Drum&bass tho. Work on sound design if you can't make a good structure. Then when you have the sounds you want, take a track in a genre you like and try copying the structure. Try finishing this track and look back and think. Is that what i want ?

Do that with few genres and what you want will comes. Like "Oh, yeah, I liked that, what if I applied it to this genre, or this genre, etc..."

we've been discussing a few different ideas, and this was one of them. we working on a few other things that have higher priority, but we're definitely considering doing scheduled producer Q&As!
That's great news.

Rules & Announcements / Re: about verification criteria
« on: January 08, 2016, 10:40:34 pm »
In that case,I have completely misunderstood the concept of verification. So basically, verification is only for artists who are already established and not for the upcoming producers who have potential. Why would someone impersonate as other artist anyway? Not like there are special benefits for them.
Some people are stupid you know.
