R&A Graveyard / Spoiler BBCode.

Hey,

It could be cool, since the forum doesn't resize pictures, to have the "spoiler" code for too big images. So the pages we load, doesn't take 100 hours to load. (Even tho, atm, there's not alot of thing in here but still for the future.)

Hi folks,

I know everyone has a different workflow regarding automation. But this is the most hindering factor in my workflow and it really ruins my time. Really I am getting now to the point that I want to switch daws just because of the way I use automation in FL..

So I was wondering, how do you guys do it? What are your ways in organizing automation in FL Studio?
With FL 12 comes the link between tracks. You can merge 2-3 tracks from the playlist into a group. If you do so, everytime you use a new track in the playlist for a new instrument, link the one below, and when you'll create an automation it's gonna appear there. (make sure to have no track upper empty.)
It looks like that :

You can see on the left, that there's group of tracks.

What you also can do it, to "lock to content" every track in the playlist (Where there is something). So no automation will be putted where you don't want it.

I'm open to any workflow, I even like the look of FL studio, looks super fun!
FL is super cool. And the small plugins that were unreadable can now be made bigger. The interface is super friendly and every stock plugin usefull. It's a real game changer to me.

I've bought it for 2 years now and the new FL 12 is just crazy. It innovate in many ways. Also, It's a big change from Logic. Piano roll is crazy, Pattern makes everything easier.

As a big fan, It's not the best but I over like it. Although if you're on mac, you'll need a windows thing to make it work. The alpha is improving every update but still unstable.

Heya,

So Beat is good, pitched vocals are pretty cool. You'll need a sub bass (heavy one) or an 808 sub. Some snare roll could make it more groovy.

I've tried myself to make a trap song, but I couldn't find any idea. Here's what i've done : https://clyp.it/loukhhc1
If you're interested, I am. (Btw I'm using FL 12)

Pm if needed ;)

Edit : After third times, I've heard you thing, sub is there but way too low. Need to bring it at least an octave higher.

Porter Robinson say everything you need.

Rameses B and PBN have great advice too.

Hey,

So, first, I liked the atmosphere, the ambiance. The arp are amazing. You've flipped it pretty well. It's calm and chilled. I like the bass. Snare is verry good. Kick is a bit low but still very cool.

Nice work ;)

Kick sounds like it has somekind of distortion on it. Also it's clipping at 0:50.

But the ideas in general are cool.

I don't think this is the correct section to post this .The sticky note says'

Welcome to Composition/Arrangement/Theory! This is where you can share and discuss everything relating to the fundamentals of music. This includes melodies, harmonies, chord progressions, time signatures

There is no special section to discuss album's yet but you can certainly discuss this here :
http://theproducersforum.com/index.php?board=12.0
It's well placed. Here we talk about the composition and the arrangement of an Album. And the section is called "COMPOSITION/Arrangement/Theory.

Heyo,

So, Kick is too weak, snare is awfull and not punchy enough. Sound design is nice, and has some good ideas. Melodies/chords are ok.

It's ok, but not mixed, there isn't much to say. If you're sending this to a pro studio for mixing, they'll have a lot of trouble and they will waste their time. Master is different. About the mix, try adding sidechain on every instrument who has low freqs, EQ everything.

It's more efficient if you do the mix, and learn how to do it than sending this to pro studio. It will cost you money, and they probably won't make it awesome because the basics are not that good.

Work on it a bit more and try to at play with the volume of the differents sounds you have, and to EQ a bit, and sidechain.

It's great but once you click on the +1 the page reloads. Can't you change that?
It has to reload to count the +1 you've add

Mixing/Mastering / Re: How should you layer supersaws?
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:27:13 pm »
I normally have 4-6 different pad/attack layers, plus 2-3 bass layers.  It's not about loudness, but more about thickness and texture.  The term "supersaw" refers to a bunch of slightly detuned saws put together, and generally the more saws you add, the better it sounds.  Of course there is a limit when adding more layers makes everything worse, but I don't think that the "less is more" principle applies here.  Or maybe it's just me...
You're right and you're wrong. I mean, it's up to what you like. Also, having 2-3 basses can really mess with the frequencies if it's not mixed correctly.
Absolutely! But if mixed/shaped/processed correctly, 3 bass layers will sound thicker and generally better than a single bass layer, no matter how hard you process it... again, there are exceptions (such as synths with tons of oscillators and built-in FX units), but I find it easier to do it by mixing in the DAW rather than inside a synth.
I should try that, I've few house track that have a lack of power in the drop. Thanks for the tip. ;)
