Yea, definitely a much more improved version!  good transitional sounds and fx. its arranged pretty nicely and keeps me interested.  great work!  :D

the piano melody could use work to really make it special, but it honestly doesnt have to change because it works, doesnt have to be a complicated melody  ;)

oh yea, and that "howl" sound that you use is hot, but use it much less in order to keep its effective impact on the listener.  it sounded over used.

keep up the great work  8)

when that flute sound comes in at about :13, I already lose interest.  Catching the listener's interest early on is really important.  You might have nice ideas later on, but it doesnt matter since the listener will lose interest so fast.  I was patient enough to keep listening only because of the fact that we are in this forum and this is a WIP and we are all helping eachother.

You did a good job with the melodies, sound selection, and the arrangement is ok.  Nothing really wrong there.  There is just stuff missing like things to fill the empty spaces that provide atmosphere and depth (for example more reverb and fx for certain things, that others have already stated).  Tension building is also missing.

Anyways like i said, you have no problem coming up with ideas but I just lose interest really fast because there is nothing to hook me. good job and keep working!  8)

This is the other track Im deciding to post for the same reasons.  I still feel like it has something to offer even though the mix is so terribble  ;D

This track is even older than Atlantica (the other one i uploaded), about 8 years old.  Maybe when i make an album, I'll give these tracks re-works. Til then, they are memories of a time when I was so excited to come up with new ideas all the time, and it was so much fun to produce without caring about it sounding professional or not.  Now its a little more stressful to produce  :P

err. just realized that this is the short version.  If an admin really cares to move this to WIP then thats fine

This was one of the very first tracks I ever completed almost 7 years ago, and my friend keeps pushing me to do a re-work but who knows what I'll do.

I just want to share this with you guys because I feel that it still offers something, even though the mix makes this upload almost embarrassing for me :P  I hope you guys at least enjoy it for the cool idea that it is  :D

the bass might need some minor tweaking in order to have a better relationship with the kick, but its basically pretty well done!  I like the vibe of the track.

The combined elements in the end come together nicely  :)  There is even more space for a couple more things.

That random vocal throws me off in a bad way, just take it out honestly and use something else.

Overall good job and keep up the good work  8)

Hey thanks for the feedback Lydian!  I would love some above and beyond type of male vocals, maybe I should just PM them and ask them for some ;D wouldn't hurt to try.

not a whole lot of highs I know.  Easy on the ears is right and yes that does make sense, i try to avoid overcrowding the 2k and up area specifically for that reason. Thanks for giving me your fresh ear perspective on that  :)

I agree about the something missing to make it special.  I will be working on it all this week during spring break and maybe I'll have a breakthrough!  ;)

thanks again!

UPDATED 3/7/16:

So I've been squeezing in time to work on this track these past few weeks and im experimenting with a new guitar I added as well as several other changes.  This school semester in combination with a girlfriend makes it pretty hard to finish this BUT I MUST! With the help of everyone hopefully!

soundcloud really ruins the quality of your sounds sometimes. oh well. please excuse the sloppy mixing as well!

Dude, you're telling me? I've been working on my latest track for about 3 months now..I have a big problem with completing tracks, mainly because I am always learning so my idea of "finished" feels never ending >.<

Im looking forward to the updated version. theres so many melodies that pop into my head when I listen to this that would take this track to a new level, haha.

congratulations on completely finishing a track!  thats an accomplishment on its own because its something I struggle with.  Especially since I am constantly learning so my idea of "finished" seems to get pushed back more and more.

Anyways, i really like the track.  The intro has a playful vibe and i didnt expect it to turn into what it did, and I like the way it ended up a lot. good job!

Szub is right about the vocal.  how much panning do you have on it? I like to play around with the panning when it comes to vocals  8)

Once it hits about 1:15 or so, im expecting something else to keep me interested but it didnt happen because the intro is very good and everything that comes after that just doesnt live up to the promising vibe it gives off.

also, at :58 that pitch rise pad that comes in at the beginning of the break is superb.  Great effect on my brain and setting the atmosphere.  But the interest slowly fades away after that (slowly as in it still keeps me interested but not that much)

good work!

edit: let me add that the mix is pretty damn good which is CRUCIAL to setting this kind of atmosphere.  I forgot to mention that.

Yea the mixing of the bass needs work.  If you listen to your track from another room, or even in another part of your room, it will give you a fresh perspective on the mix of your bass compared to the rest of the track.  It helps me a lot when my ears get fatigued.

Also, the kick is lacking low end punch.  The overall low end is lacking now that I think about it. as a result there is nothing driving or carrying the track.

The snare buildup is hardly building any tension, i understand this is a WIP though.

One of the most important things in mixing your track is getting the kick/bass relationship just right.  We all struggle with it

good job on the track overall, i really like the vibe  ;) keep working

all the other sounds would greatly benefit from the bass being cut around the areas of 2k and 4k.  But do it without taking away too much presence, because I know what you're going for.  good job, but the counter melodies need work. nice vocals, where are they from?

Im extremely creative and Im willing to push past the times of failure. there have been many times that I have taken big jumps in my production level when i would just keep producing through the discouragement instead of exiting my DAW.  Theres really something to it and its a consistent theme that I know would work for everyone.

Just like everything in life when you push past the failure, you oddly enough come across a very beneficial outcome on the other side and thats what Ive found out about producing

Kick is slightly too loud and overpowering, careful with that.  The beginning intro pluck melody does not want me to keep listening, it could be improved upon.  I understand that it is just a little intro melody but it needs to be able to pull me in a little more.  You have a nice ear for melodies and chords.

at 2:00 when the breakdown begins, you give away too much too early and you can do a better job of building the tension there, which is really important. You have some good harmonies going on and I think you can introduce the soudns in that breakdown better.

at 4:50 that new melody that comes in is alright but I feel like you need to make some space in the frequency spectrum because at this point its just compromising the sound of your other instruments

but still, good job and keep working!
