Staying in my comfort zone.  I tend to go on autopilot and stick with what I'm confident will work, rather than experimenting.

Yes, I think that this problem is all too common with beginning producers (and even some very experienced ones) who spend way too much time trying make their mix sound "pro", when the 7-minute song itself has nothing musically interesting in it to keep my attention for more than 20 seconds.  Songs that go nowhere, have no melody, and, hell, often not even a chord change, but, the mix actually sounds pretty good - I find this to be the case more often than not on production forums.  IMO, the primary purpose of the production part of music-making is to bring out the musical ideas, but too many people think that they can get away with skipping the hard part of creating great musical ideas simply by having a stellar production.  IOW, yes, you certainly can polish a musical turd, but it just leaves you with a shinier (overproduced) turd.

I don't think it's a bad thing to try to force productivity, as long as it's within a reasonable limit.  Sometimes, forcing it a bit can result in something inspirational, but knowing when to say when and finding something more productive to do (or less productive, like catching up on sleep) is often the better option.

To me, music is a hobby. If I would force myself, it wouldn't feel fun anymore.

Yeah, same here.  That's one of the reasons I never wanted to make a career out of it.  It's nice knowing that I can make music when I feel like, and do something completely different when I don't.

I've owned it since the original Blue was released and it's one of my favorite synths of all time, hardware or software. It's a deep hybrid synth with incredible range.

The thing with theory is that there are usually many ways to think about it, so hearing from different perspectives can be good, either too reinforce it, or to help find those lightbulb moments.
