Don't know what song that is, but the string sounds a lot like the Guzheng from EWQL Silk.  Silk has a bunch of excellent Chinese, Indian, and Persian instruments, including many plucked and bowed strings, winds, and brass. It's not cheap (currently on sale for $197.50) and it requires an iLok, but I've owned it since day one and I still think it's the best collection of Eastern instruments around.

I'll add Bobby Owsinski's "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook".  It's a classic book that's been around for a long time and a lot of people swear by it.  I haven't read the latest editions, but the older editions are written in a pretty universal manner (i.e., not aimed at one particular genre and definitely not EDM-specific), but covers a lot of range, includes perspectives from a bunch of big names in the industry, etc.

If you're looking for something that feels more like Logic's linear workflow, I'd go with either Sonar (PC only), Presonus Studio One v3, Cubase, or potentially PT (although I don't think the new PT12 pricing is worth it).  I use Sonar (my main DAW) and PT on my PC, and Logic on my MBA, Studio One v2 on both, and I've found it very easy to switch between them.  Bitwig is great, but has quite a different workflow than Logic - not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, but it would possibly have a steeper learning curve for you compared to some of the others.

Well, from my point of view, it's just a pain to set everything to +0.50, especially when working with synthesizers. I'm not sure though really, I feel like I might try it properly and see how it goes. I think it's just a personal laziness (Which I'm also guilty for )

However I believe this producer uses quarter tones in his melody sections which you might find interesting. Check out 0:41.

If you listen to the way the pitch bends and over/undershoots the target, it sounds to me like he's accomplishing that with the pitch wheel, rather than using a quarter-tone scale.  You could get even more accuracy by setting the pitch bend range to +/- 1 and automating the pitch bend in fourths.  Cool track!

+1.  All the Glitch Machines plugins are excellent FSU plugins.  I also like spectral effects, like Artificial Audio's Obelisk for doing some crazy tempo-sync'ed spectral filtered/delayed stuff.

Started with synths back in the late 70s (yeah, I'm old).  Learned piano/organ and trumpet in elementary school, then started on bass in middle school.  My first college degree was in Music Theory/Composition, so I had to "learn" many instruments, but bass and keys were my main instruments and I didn't retain anything from the other instruments, really.  These days, I pretty much play keys, bass, and some guitar.  Actually, I just got a nice nylon-string Yamaha guitar for Christmas and have been really working on finger-picking, but have a long way to go.
