Hello! Got a question about the bass in this track;
Miike Snow - Silvia (Sebastian Ingrosso & Dirty South Remix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny6qQxVlrus&feature=youtu.be&t=60

The bass seems so...woody? How is this synthesized? It sounds woody and hallow-ish yet full, tried to recreate it using various recipes but nothing has worked out they way I want to!

Bonus question: Is anyone able to figure out the bass movement/progression? I know that the track is in Gmin but I haven't been able to recreate the bass pattern,it seems so groovy and moving yet it sounds like a simple progression....going nuts!
You have Massive? I can get pretty close

Anyone know how to make a Porter Robinson-esque Arp?

Ex:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4BP_CQ2Azs

Drop is at the very beginning of the video, the shiny keys in the background that really add a lot, anyone know?

Sounds a lot like a pretty basic deep house pluck. Shouldn't take much. If you have serum use the FMFM wavetable with a saw, grab a lowpass filter and add some very sharp cutoff. Also another that gives it a little bit of a shine is a small amount of downsample distortion. After that add on your choice of after effects to tweak it however you wish! Hopefully that's helpful.

This crazy sound by Madeon is a mystery to me.
Has anyone got an idea?

https://youtu.be/ng4291cptOk?t=1m49s

Well for one if you want the full song look up Irony - Claris (Porter Robinson Edit)

Its probably a form of 3 different synths layered on top of eachother. Can't name specific wavetables. My guess would be massive or serum, then with an LFO on the cutoff portion of it giving it that sort of short plucky sound while still retaining the solid portion of the chord in there. Not much on advice, but it's something! Absolutely love that song. The drop is ecstacy.

how do you go about making the wavey chords in the intro of soupandreas's life goes on? i messed around with different ADSR envelopes, cutoff/resonance modulation and tried to apply an lfo to the cutoff but i wasn't getting a close enough end result.

Sounds to me like Sylenth1. Using an LFO on the cutoff and then syncing the built-in phaser with it as well!

Edit: I actually just messed around and got something close. If you have sylenth I can send you the fxp, of if you just wanna hear it I can render and link it, or email it to you!

Also that guy totally sounds like Geotheory x Sam Gellaitry.

I'm no expert, I'm still an amateur. Sound design just grooves with me really well, composition not so much. :/

ahh the phaser thing is a good suggestion, i'll try that out. also yes, if you're cool with sending me it, i'd definitely be interested in seeing the preset file! i kept messing up somewhere along the way  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: the application of a phaser is definitely a step in the right direction although im still a bit clueless what waveforms to use in order to get a similar sound. this is as close as i managed to get (hopefully your fxp will shed some light as to what im missing lmao)

Anyone got any idea on how Mr. Quinn made the lead synth at 1:53 and 3:32? I hate to use buzzwords, but to me it sounds very 'crispy'. I am not very experienced at sound design, but this would be a great way to start. Any help appreciated!

does anyone know how to make the bass in this song (0:43)? i was thinking something along the lines of guitar amp distortion as a processing method although i'm not sure.

any ideas on how to recreate the metallic sounding arp that comes in at 10 seconds?

https://clyp.it/zhspmlx2

put an arpeggiator in front of a sine wave (operator default preset works fine) and put the steps to 3 and the rate to 1/64

play a big chord (good one to try is C-Eb-G-Bb-D) and voila!

How would you make the funny lead bell/kalimba thing you hear in this song at 1:17

https://soundcloud.com/tennysonmusic/no-answer

you can hear it in this track too at 1:17 oddly enough

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hv1DElPXV0

both great tracks :)

you can take an 808 tom (if you're using ableton just do a search for it and one should come up) and then drag it into a sampler. pitch it up and start playing notes! you can add a transient shaper to make it punch a little harder and sound more sticky
