Re: WRLD supersaw?

Would it be possible if anyone can advise me on how I can make the smooth saw wave like the one from 0:02 - 0:05 from WRLD - Awake?

Ref link: https://soundcloud.com/monstercat/wrld-awake?in=monstercat/sets/awake-ep

help appreciated

i used sylenth for this one. my remake has 3 osc; a saw (3 voice, low detune), white noise (1 voice) and a sine (1 voice). retrig is off on all of them. i turned on the low pass filter for both parts more so for the drive aspect than cutting out any frequencies. in the envelope tab i turned on Pitch AB and left the ADSR as is except for adding a tiny bit of decay (adds a bit of attack to the sound). in the lfo tab, lfo 1 is modulating Pitch AB; rate (1/16), gain (0.10), rotary knob (1.86). i enabled mono/legato mode in order to allow the notes to glide (6-7 for portamento time). the last thing i added within sylenth was a bit of chorus.

as far as external processing goes: i eq'ed the low end out, compressed a bit, added distortion, bitcrushed, and added reverb.
the bitcrusher is only effecting the high end of the sound at around the 24k region.

here's what i managed to get. it's not perfect but hopefully it points you in the right direction!

I think you mean 2.4k.unless you are making music for dolphins and bats

ahh, i was typing this super fast and meant to mention it was the resampler frequency. i used decimort 2 for the bitcrushing.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can help me out on this maraca/Open Hihat sound in this song (https://soundcloud.com/lane8music/ghost-lane-8-rework) at 0:18

I've been playing around with open hihat samples to get the sound but I can't get it just right. I'm not sure if it's a maraca sample or just open hihat with pitch/volume changes.

I know it's a pretty popular sound that's used in a lot of tracks, is it usually a maraca sample or open hihats? Or am I just compeletely wrong  ???

Thanks!

Could be a shaker sample or loop, which I think is more likely. Some sample packs come with them.

If it is individual samples (or a singular sample), I'd mess around with the release/gate/length/volume of each hit.  Singularity talks about making realistic drums in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIWfhgBkp40

Hello everyone, I've been trying to figure out how to make the lead that Ghastly uses in his track Get On This at 0:30. I think its a really cool lead but I am struggling with making it myself. Thanks for the help!

I was trying to make this sound earlier and started messing around with LD gamers if I was on the right track that would be hilarious.

Use Serum and play around with the all-pass filter. Squarify + all-pass mod = riddim.

Do any of you guys know how to make this lead sound from Maurice West's remix of Headhunterz "To Be Me"?

HELP! How do I create this awesome trance groove?

I've spent hours trying to reproduce a cool sample based groove like this:

https://youtu.be/MS7nGso2BD0?t=73

Does anyone know how they do this? Is there some trick I am missing? To me it sounds like extremely well placed samples in time... Also, are they making these samples or is there a library of cool trance samples? I've heard this in other songs as well.

I took my shot, but my sample library is thin, so I threw some synths together and worked through as much as my brain could handle (holy cow this drop is really hard to follow). Hopefully this will at least give you an idea of where to place your samples. Tbh, it's 130 bpm glitch house or some crazy subgenre name that will stick for like a year and die out like all the others. (Haven't heard the word "Riddim" in a while. Hmm.) So as long as you get into the proper mindset, and understand what you're going for, I think you can pull it off. I also believe that when you hear similar sounds in songs, it's well known synth patches or methods of achieving a sound (because I'm 90% sure I could pick one or two of these sounds out of a Shadient song in some different iteration).

But yeah. Let me know if this helps.  :)

P.S. I hear some reese-esque sounds in there. So that's definitely a sound you could work on (Damn, Daniel. Back at it again with the different iterations).

Some emo kid couldn't start a band, so he picked up a computer instead. That's going pretty well.
