If you think your personal experience is indicative of the music industry as a whole, you're welcome to that belief.
You are the one who stated that practically everybody does this, and when I say that I have never seen this on my own behalf you come off like a know-it-all.  Well lucky me who have not encountered "practically everybody".
My experience is that the labels gamble the release cost against a percentage of rights and royalties, not lending the artist the basic cost for reimbursement later.

Having signed a few deals, I have never seen a contract that has implied that starting cost could be coming back to bite my ass if the release tanked.  If you take out a large advance I would understand it, but never for basic release costs.
*edit: the article is from 2007, so it´s a bit dated.

They'll bill you later if it doesn't sell.

Who does that?

Did it take you long to find the illustration photo?  Because usually searching for: woman sitting on her knees. Would result in NSFW ;).  But to get on topic, I would recommend getting a gamer chair if you can afford it.

Hybrid - Wide Angle (made in 1995!)
Have a listen and realize that it´s not the plug-ins or the DAW that makes the music.

Dear OP.
Your parents are looking out for your future the best way they know how.  Your education is what is important right now, and no matter how you look at it, there will never be a better time in your life to do that than now.
There are no guarantees in the music business, while an education will usually at least qualify you for a better shot at having a "successful" life, music will not provide this security.  I hope that you will read (most) of the replies and use what has happened as a motivation to be a good student, and maybe there are courses like music theory that you can choose to be able to learn music as well?

I wish you the best of luck!

Promoters want stuff that will sell without too much work having to be put into it.  It´s that simple.  If you want "success" you need to promote yourself as much as your music.  Unless you get discovered by someone who is willing to do that part for you.

Tell them no.
If they have faith in your music they should easily make back the 68€ without you chipping in.  And 50% is too much of a cut for what they´re offering. If you have to pay, then you are paying for them to build their reputation, not yours.

Ask them to send you a contract draft with the things that their obligations specified.

Well that thread was still kinda positive until my post.
My point was never about your post, but about your music.  It´s really good, man.  Time to accept credit for it :)

Shit. Sorry. Didn't want to bring anyone down. Naaaah. :/

?  What´s that about?

This thread makes me feel weird.  I probably have too much confidence in what I do currently.  I am not saying that my stuff or my production is in any way "super good", but I have been getting very good feedback on what I want to release.  I have managed to find a way to "let s*** go", and stop analyzing and adding stuff.  It helps a lot against doubts.
I don´t know if any of the guys who doubt themselves here have tried to get their stuff out other than on SC.  But some of you,(especially FarleyCZ) should really be sending stuff out to get signed.
