Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / I gave up
« on: August 18, 2016, 02:04:41 pm »
After struggling to finish anything since January, due to a medical condition, I accepted defeat.  I can´t create like I used to anymore.
I´ve got 150 half done tracks, many just waiting to be arranged, but my brain does´t work the way it did before.  So I give up.
I´m gonna try on and off, but I just can´t take the feeling of being unable to make tracks, so I´m just gonna own it from now on....

Why would you want to do that?  It´s not like there´s a price for most upvotes.

Sounds good.  Too bad for the non-Sylenth guys(like me).  Thanks for contributing.

Don´t mess with your hearing!  Go see a doctor right away.  Hearing does not magically improve, and once damage is done it´s not fixable.  Take it very seriously.  Depending on the degree of tinnitus, it may or may not go away.  Get it checked asap.  Good luck

Why don´t you just use darkart?

I see how so many people are literally suffering through their weeks to have this short 2 day window, that they then waste on doing nothing of value. The sadness and fragility of their existence energizes me.

Eh, in short, be honest about your personality and work around that.

This makes perfect sense to me, and I really don´t get why more people are motivated this way.  You have made a choice for yourself.  Everyday you work a lot(or a little) towards your goal.  That means that you´re on your way.  Looking at my friends I see the opposite all the time.  They are set in their ways, not wanting to evolve(damn Pokemons), or improve, as they are "comfortable" where they are.  Except they´re not.  They´re actually miserable inside ´cause they´re done.  Chosing to be set, and safe, is by all means fine.  But, the most common thing that therapists encounter these days, are people who are depressed because they never went after what they really wanted.  Even though there are a lot of people making music, the number of who would really go for it is relatively low. Anyone who has made a real decision as to what they want, has a major advantage over everyone that has not.  So attila´s approach here is accurate to me.

Congrats on the mods status!

Thanks for that, Attila. I´m gonna have to look into the lighting.  Really interesting.

Festival sets are just that.  Festival sets.  Instant gratification is what the djs try to give the crowd.  Playing for 1 hour, it limits any building.
Cafe del Mar is my best example of a track that can make a crowd lose it without the drums(check the Nalin&Kane remix for the best ride)

Honestly, replacing all my regular lights with led rope has helped me get in the zone a lot faster. It feels like I'm jacking into the matrix when I turn my studio on.
Care to share details?

Persistence is much more important than anything IMO.  Like everything else it can be learned, but it´s boring and therefore more difficult to stick with than theory etc. as it gives no immediate results.  I wish I had it, but I don´t.
