so i figured things out and all my applications will be put on the SSD and i will just have to keep the samples on the hard drive. i will say, jesus! the quickness in loading my applications is amazing!!!

only problem is i can't undo now in the project i opened. i can only go back one step D:

The high pitch sound that is in the kick is a little annoying to me. And I think you could get a bit simpler with the main synth, and add some more variation. The second synth that comes in is pretty sweet. Main is would be EQ your kick and bass a bit as you said, and try simplifying the chords a bit.

For vocals I think some incoherent sort of chopped vocals like Bonobo would work well.

Keep at it!

I need to mess with the gate on the vocals but you get the idea. also realized the lead i the beginning might of sounded like to much because i was using holy scales and an arp -_-  didn't change the high pitch kick but i know i have a better sample in mind just couldn't find it yet. think i got some of that gargle out of the bass when it drops. want to add some phasing to the vocals just to give it a bit more stereo and movement.

This is with that high tuned kick sound filtered out a bit and vocal side chain vs gating like in last one. need to fix EQ after that 2nd lead drops. it sounds flat now and that first arp lead sticks to out and doesn't sound to good

ok ok i figured out how to boot the drive so it works now and is readable by my laptop. so when i got into disk utility it now has 2 hard drives. original and need SSD. I'm using ableton but want all my music stuff to be put on the SSD but with all the different files in different places. What would be the easiest way to get everything on the SSD. On the hybrid drive it notices what programs are used more and put those things on the SSD of that drive. Basically I want that to happen between all the drives working together seamlessly.

Sorry I'm not really a techie and feel like this is probably something simple. Go figure, I know ableton well but not hardware tech  ???

So I got a 480 GB SSD and took my optical drive out to have a bit over a TB my other drive is a hybrid at 750 so its half HHD and half SSD. How would I set up that SSD and basically put all my music on it? will it mess up any projects? D:

Working on a macbook btw

Just started this, would like some quick feedback. I wanna keep it low tempo and want to add either vocals or pads but don't know if that will be to much  ??? I know when the bass comes in I have to do some EQing it sounds off.
How the composition?

Thank you guys for listening  :) :)

Now with the vocals are you talking about the more male sounding one that is through out?
or the one I'm doing a slight rhythm with in the first half of the song?

When I listened to it again I think you guys were talking about the more male sounding one that through out. Its not really cutting through the mix to my ear and is really behind in the mix but not in a good way.

I think it's the one that plays throughout the song. My opinion is that it fits the dark aspect of the song, but is too dominant and used too excessively.
Mabye try to filter it out or make it more subtle in some other way and use it less? Otherwise a great track!

totally get what you mean thank you  :) i know what my night is gonna consist of

i think cutting the section from :15-:22 would help the intro and all the other drum section before :15 other than the kick if taken out would prob help the intro with the kick coming back at the :30. I really like the drop though ooo and holding that percussion part at 1:14 just a little longer would sound dope with it going straight into that drop towards the end around 2:07

I think you should take that flute out and change it for a bass/sub instead that filters in. And shorten those birds chirping and try elongating them with reverb or delay effects it think it would sound cooler. my opinion but hey hope it helps. Maybe take out the water. With atmospheric stuff i feel like less is better vs all these relaxation machine sounds all in one.

I dig the disco vibe. Its sounding like the hats are off the beat or some click sound in the back of the mix. I feel like the vocals can be spaced out more since its a long track.Around the 2 min mark I like that percussion. Since you made this last night I'm sure your already tweaking it but i think your off to something groovy

This has changed a lot since its original concept. Went from being kinda dark and broody to chill but still dark almost.Would love some feedback. I know it needs to be mixed a little better D: not my strength but would love to know what you guys think of the arrangement.

Any suggestions for that fill where the pad section is before the drums change would be greatly appreciated.

Edit 2/11:
So I think I added some boom to the snare. messed with the vocals a bit and turned down the reverb on the hats. Think this will basically be the final arrangement before mixing it down.

Much Appreciated for the listen  ;D

It's quite bizarre. The hi hats are almost completely panned to one speaker, and they're too loud.

The bass hook you've got is also too loud and kind of distorted? At speakers half way my entire room shakes. 30 seconds of the song is too bland and takes too long to progress, or doesn't really have enough elements in it to keep it interesting.

The piano/mallet around 1 minute doesn't really flow into the start of the song, and i just generally dont feel like the two themes blended together well at all towards the end of the song.

At 1 minute there's just too much going on, the amount of notes the glockenspiel or piano is playing is just trying to compete with the bass hook and the vocal slice.

I've always said this, if you're going to have an aggressive sound, you can't be playing other aggressive sounds at the same time - if you're going to, you really have to know what you're doing.

I found some parts of the glockenspiel-thingo kinda cool though, where you played a bunch of notes real fast. I actually found that pretty interesting,

good luck!

I oddly get what you mean, thanks for the feedback bud :D
