I think you have a lot of good ideas in this track, but I think you have a bit too many ideas that you're trying to put into this track. There's a general arrangement, but there's not really much cohesion between them and the sections sort of start and stop without any kind of warning.

I would look for 1 or 2 songs that you think feel similar to your song - i'm sure there are some R&B or chill trap tracks that have the vibe you're going for - and bring them into your DAW in the same session as this project. Take some time to examine how those songs are put together, and compare them directly with your own track. Ask yourself what they're doing that you like that you're currently not doing. Ask what they're doing that you like that you are doing. Ask what they're not doing that you are doing, and what you're doing that they're not doing. Most importantly, ask yourself why those things are different or the same.

These questions can apply to any part of the track, from the composition to the instrumentation to the arrangement to the mixdown and the mastering. That feedback will honestly help you out just as much as having a second person listening and telling you what they think, because the other person in this scenario is the guy or girl who wrote the song you're referencing.

thats kind of what i was worried about when listening to it arranging it is how can i make any of this fit together mainly because of how the 2 main elements (intro sparklyness and the melodic deep spacey guitarness) could possibly gel. i tried by adding those pads into both but meh, didn't work so well. so in your opinion what does and doesn't work together. Ive been in the process of subtracting but more feedback on that would be awesome <3 also any suggestions for reference tracks? just because i really don't have an idea of where this came from because its not like music i listen to. i kind of was in the zone and just went for it. been listening to san holo lately and more flumes helix to see if those are some good ref. but i feel like thats not close enough. hmmmmm

shameless bump because I've changed it a lot since the original post. really want some feedback around that middle chill break. still working on making it all gel. feel like the drums needs some spice to it and the riser that leads into needs a little something to it to. end of it is there for arrangement idea but gonna start subtracting elements to make my outro and maybe add that very atmospheric/spacey sound in intro and middle to end but in a diff variation.

currently looking for someone to add vocals over it if possible.

much appreciated. sorry for the shameless bump I'm just excited about this, wanna make it work, and really want some feedback.....we've all been there   ;D

Not a bad kick sample, but I would shorten it up some with either some compression work, or just lessen the "out" on the tail end of the sample. I really like when the snare comes in at 0:32, it's a good sample and gives the loop that extra 'pop' that progressive house/minimal tracks are known for.

Really like the bass that comes in at 1:04, though I would lay off that ride hat playing over and over again. I think it gets in the way of the other elements, and takes away some from the mix in general.

I wasn't expecting such an industrial feel, but I really like the direction you took with this track. It is very old-mau5, and I think it's mixed pretty well. Work on bringing out those synths more - other than the fact that they were subdued a bit in the mix, I liked them quite a bit. The industrial vibe was unique and worked well with the percussion!

totally got hat you meant about the ride, when i uploaded it here i was working on it before checking back and that was one of the first things i took out. it was clashing to much. had it kinda fixed with a midi velocity plug but took it out for now in this version. still working on the mixing part now but think this is roughly a complete track minus some minor tweaks and FX here and there. let me know what you think  ;D thanks for the feedback homie

Kind of the final mix

Fixed up. i kinda wanna extend that vocal sample in the beginning but don't want to over due it with to many things ya know? better when you hear this on headphones or good speakers. laptop speakers don't do it justice. ending part is gonna be refined and not left like that. idk how i feel about that lead blip sound. i like the high notes it hits toward the end of the arp but not to sure about the lower ones yet. thoughts?

Heres something new I'm jamming out to, kinda weird but feedback would be greatly appreciated. that 2nd kind of mid sound i want to change so i feel like thats the most stand out thing to me.
ps rough wip not mixed

i dig the track, i feel like the bass could be a bit crunchier or maybe be heavier and then automate to where it smooths out to that plucky bass. leads kind of sound a little back , could be my speakers though. other than that good job :)

Thanks guys :) in ableton it doesn't sound as loud. I think it happened because I used Landr to master it but I totally get what you mean. I think instead of panning I might try to use the phaser effect to make some more room or just ultimately turn it down.

I really appreciate the feedback and support :) will go into it a bit later and adjust that pad. Off to the next idea.

alanisnotcool: I was there not to long ago where i never knew what finished is. I think sometimes we don't think its finished but you need to take a step back and listen to it and know hey i like this vibe a lot and i don't want to over do it to where its never done. ya know? I feel like if you have a vibe instead of going further. make that the main part and adjust around it vs adding and adding and adding basically have everything build up to that vibe you made. Listen to one of your favorite song. guarantee its simpler than you think when you break it down. much luck on your productions bud hope those words help
