« on: January 09, 2016, 03:08:27 am »Cool remix man, I like what you're doing with it. A few technical notes I had while listening:
1. I'm not wild about the filtering/EQ-ing on the snare that comes in at 1:05. I think it'd sound better with the higher freqs that I think you're rolling off.
2. The lead that comes in at 1:17 just does sound quite right to me. It dunno if it's too much low-end or a stereo issue, but it doesn't sound as clean and crisp as I want/expect it to. It might be a simple levels issue (e.g. just make it louder), but you might also try rolling off some of the really low frequencies, scooping some low-mids, and boosting a tad in the higher frequencies.
3. I think the kick sounds a bit muddy. In a track in this genre, I'm expecting a kick that's just a little cleaner and punchier.
So, pretty much all of my comments have to do with the low-end of the mix.Otherwise, great work man!
P.S. Was listening in my studio on KRK 8's.
thanks for the feedback its greatly appreciated. thats all stuff I'm ironically working on right now. going through some samples to get the right kick as we speak.
on that lead I have a lot of effects so ill mess with them / take some off.

besides the muddy kick and what not what did you think about the rhythm of the drums all in all?

Nice, grungy atmosphere you've got going there! Really deep, dark vibe indeed. I feel like some of that percussion could carry more high end to bring it more presence in the mix, but I don't know this style too well. It does work how it is; it just lacks a little bit of that brightness.
Keep working on this, because it's really nice!
thanks for the feedback, thats pretty much what I'm going for and I'm glad it came across. totally get what you mean in the brightness of the track. when working on it since I'm going for that dark vibe kind of lost with what to do in that high end. hmmmm

« on: January 09, 2016, 02:25:57 am »reworked it a bit, want to add a 808 with a long tail and working on fixing up the vocals in the beginning, any recommendations for that would be awesome. can't wrap my head around it. I'm also messing with adding a kick that has a release that expands after the horn section in the beginning. ends up making a bass line almost that hits hard. ill probably export what i'm talking about with the kick that opens its release up

digging the vibe. id say take the vocals out at 1:12 and maybe use the end of the vocals before in a delay that goes through out where that vocal used to be. the ahmed thing kind of kills the vibe a bit for me. really loving the work after that though.

i really dig the vibe a lot all i can really say is that bass is just really bright for my ears and doesn't let the other sounds that are bright come out enough for me but all in all really good and hope you guys finish it. excited to hear it

« on: January 08, 2016, 01:05:34 am »Go download Audio Hijack; it's free for any recordings of up to 10 minutes (beyond that it adds noise), which is more than enough for grabbing snippets from wherever you wanna borrow some vocals. Vine, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, wherever.

OMG mat!!! thank you so much for listening to my song its honestly an honor and this just made my day completely. If your talking about the horn section I originally took it out because at the time I felt like it was muddy when I listened to it and was still learning about mixing and mastering. I want to add a sub/bass there to add to the horn section. It doesn't feel like it has enough body or weight around there but I couldn't tell if maybe my ears are just so used to the song since I've heard it so often.
