WIPs / Re: KLANG | Illenium Remix | Feedback wanted :)
« on: May 04, 2016, 08:27:54 pm »
Hey man! Love the song, just voted for you! Hope you win. I'll be honest, I like these vocals so I think I'll try my hand at remixing this as well. Probably won't submit it into the competition but will do it nonetheless.

One thing I was hoping to hear in your song was the upward chord progression pluck that you can hear around 2:43. I think if you made that your lead and transformed that into a smooth gritty saw chord it would build more fluidity and excitement in your chorus. But just my preference! Still, amazingly chill song, love it!

Keep it up, love hearing your music and watching you grow bro.

The synth and FX work in the intro are great, sounds very professional. I love the brooding swell at 0:29/0:30 as well, it's very sinister and carries a lot of weight in the mix.

The bass is mixed well when it comes in with the triplets. I would work on the timbre with your little blips like the one at 1:13 though, give them some more natural sound like hitting a wood block. I really like the sidechain work with the vocals, and they're mixed very well.

It's a really beautiful track so far man! I love how it has the elements of psytrance, techno and big room all at the same time, they all work well together in the mix. Definitely keep going with this one!!

Awesome thanks for the comment! I know exactly what you're implying with the wood block sound, I'll try to recreate that and layer it into the sound I already have. I want to finish this but I have no idea how I want it to drop into the chorus, I have so many different options-- I can go back into psy, or push into techno, or even go for progressive trance but all seem a bit "overplayed" to me. I'm still trying to find a way to incorporate all 3 so we'll see what I come up with (:

WIPs / Above & Beyond + Psytrance

Hey guys, so i'm a huge fan of A&B but also like psy trance and techno. I want to find a way to incorporate all 3 facets so this is an exercise I did for myself. I bore easily from the repetitive psytrance bass pluck but figured I should start at the fundamentals first. Everything you hear is my own sound except the vocals of course :B I kind of just messed around with the drop so don't pay too much attention to that as it'll most likely change entirely. But for the rest of the song, any feedback is welcome! Let me know what you think.

Hey man! Another trance producer here. Love this work! Very creative and I love the style. It'd be nice to have the bass line at 2:55 by more dynamic. Maybe switch between different bass synths and beat repeats to get more energy, it feels a bit repetitive. Also, maybe tweak the levels to get the mix a bit more balanced. The bass seems to stick out a little more than necessary and the synths have a bit more on the lower end than the higher. That's just my preference though. Love it though!

I love the atmosphere the most. The mix sounds pretty solid to me. I didn't find the vocals to be too loud. It seemed pretty well balanced. I did find that four bar chord progression to get a bit repetitive after awhile though.

Thanks for the feedback! What four bar chord progression exactly? For the build up in the beginning and end or the chorus?

Hey guys, just nearly finished with this song but would love to get last minute feedback on the mixing and general impression of the song. Are the vocals too loud/not balanced? Does it entertain you throughout the entirety of the song or does it get boring? What kind of emotions does it emit and at what point? What do you like/dislike about the song? Etc.

Thanks for the feedback!!

Hey buddy, another great song! I'm noticing a certain style of arrangement that you have in your trance songs. Personally it'd be nice to hear a combination of the first part of the breakdown (saw-y chord progression @1:44) with the melody at 2:46. Maybe that's why it feels a bit out of sync to me? It feels a bit "separated" in song structure with both parts right next to each other. Also, the compression on the high synth sound a bit too side chained. Try tweaking it a bit Adjusting the attack on the midi. You don't have to drastically compress to get that pumping sound, you'll find it works well just ever so slightly (: Other than that, awesome work! Keep it up.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm just horrible at doing breakdowns. i know both the break down and drop are missing elements. it seems like i always get " producers block " when it comes to that. Flow state thanks for the help! What do you produce in? I use FL. i could send you the project if you wanna look at it. I just want to finish it... i haven't been able to finish anything in almost a year.

I work with Ableton but if you send me dry audio clips of your melody, chords, etc. I can work with that. Better yet, if you screenshot and send me the notes and chord progression I can plug the midi notes with my own DAW and sounds. Up to you man, I'm always down to work on breakdowns haha.

Hey bud, another trance producer here. Love your song! Some suggestions I'd give is to add a chain layer to the chorus saws. One completely dry and the other completely wet (the way you have it now). It'll provide the intensity as well as the depth that you're looking for. Also for the breakdown I'd suggest adding a bit more automation, maybe an auto filter that progressively brings in the high frequencies. Also, the drop at 3:09 feels a bit hesitant/dragged out for too long. Like if I heard it in a club I'd expect it to drop but the high cut of the kick/percussions would make me think the DJ made some mistake and forgot to bring in the high EQ lol.

Other than that, I love it! Great chord progression, awesome depth and the structure of the song is well balanced with each other. Just a few minor tweaks here and there and I think the song would be good to go! If you want, I can do a really quick mock up of what I'm talking about for the drop, I enjoy working on breakdowns so if you want I'd be happy to help you on that part more attentively.

Cheers!

Actually many well known producers start their project with the breakdown so u can keep the project and go back to it to work on the other parts when u have time :D

Yeah that's what I've been doing but it's so hard to go back when I want to create something entirely new, haven't been to disciplined about doing that D:

Hey, I would be down. I use Logic and my style is a bit different but I can mess with trance! Check out my newest song, If you like it let me know, I dig what you have

Oh very awesome track! I went a bit ahead of myself and finished most of the previous track but I'm definitely down start on a new collaborative song with you! I can envision a blend between your chill trap and my progressive trance? Something like Mr. Fiji Wiji but lets dubby. Idk, just a thought! haha but let's talk ideas and such (: Shoot me an email at flowstateofficial@gmail.com

WIPs / Trance Collaboration Anyone?
« on: April 10, 2016, 01:56:07 am »
So I'm pretty solid on melodic breakdowns but I have a hard time creating the other parts for a full song. Instead of trying to do this on my own, I figured one of you guys could help me finish! If anyone is interested in helping me complete this song let me know, I'm down to collaborate to get something fresh  8) I used Ableton Live but if we click like peanut butter and jelly then we can make it work.

Here's the song I want to collaborate with, just made this today. Also, I'm still open for feedback and constructive criticism! Let me know what you think about the track, if you want to collaborate, if you want to say hi, whatever :b

nice! always love finding other trance producers. I can't find anything off putting, maybe the breakout could be a bit more dynamic, rather than just taking out the hi hits and percussion, but that's just my personal preference. Very awesome work man! Curious to hear the rest of the song.

WIPs / Batman + Techno + Flowstate

This is what you get when Batman enjoys knocking people out at techno clubs. I kind of tried something different, started this last year but never continued it until now. Let me know if you see potential and if I should finish this. The volume isn't exactly right but let me know what you think about this style within progressive techno/trance genre.
