WIPs / Re: 80s Techno/Neo-Tokyo + Prog. Trance stuff
« on: March 28, 2017, 05:11:38 pm »
This is about dope as hell lmao where is it going though is that it or is there gonna be drums that come in later?

Thanks man! I really have no idea how to proceed with the song lol. I was kind of trying to go for a ARP melody pluck with some hints of prog trance, like Enceladus by Sunny Lax, but it's been pretty difficult. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, I'm trying to incorporate a "neo tokyo" vibe, similar to early techno sounds and mix it in with modern progressive trance sounds. Let me know what you think!

WIPs / Going to submit this song to some labels, but need your help first!
« on: February 13, 2017, 07:14:22 pm »
Hey guys, I just finished a track and want to submit it to some labels. But before then, I need extra ears (and headphones, speakers etc.) to listen and tell me if the mixdown is good enough!

I feel like the bass/sub/lower frequencies of the song is a bit too much and cripples the higher frequencies, the entire song sounds muddled and suffocated a bit from the lower frequencies. BUUTT that just might be my headphones? I'm not sure, so please help me! Also any other comment or advice, production or mixing wise, is highly welcomed (:

Well constructed track indeed.  This is awesome! the drop was a very pleasant surprise.  Listened all the way through.  Now Im gonna do my own remix haha, didnt know this was available!

Only constructive criticism I have right now is at 4:22 when the kick is solo right before the wall of sound hits.  It's good and im actually satisfied with it, but if i had the project file opened in front of me, then I would try using a finger snap instead or mess around with a couple short percussion layers just to see what it sounds like.

again, great work!

Thanks for your feedback man, I'll mess around with 4:22 and see if I can create something that stimulates the progression of the song.

Yeah I was ecstatic when I found out they released the vocal track, such a fun song to work on. Here's the link, you can download it directly from here! https://soundcloud.com/davedresden/motorcycle-as-the-rush-comes-full-acappella-2014

this is really good man. The only things i think you should tweak is to let the riser and the white noise in the intro end around 0:30 or 0:31 so the vocal can stand on it's own right before the bassline hits around 1:00. Also...the build up before the drop seemed a bit too quiet and it didn't sound like there was a lot going on. I wasn't sure if that was done intentionally or if you're still working on that.

This isn't super necessary to do, but maybe introduce the piano chords around 2:02 but low pass it and slowly open the filter so the listener knows it's coming at 2:24. Just a thought =)

Other than that, great ideas here! Keep it up.

I'll check out these points! Thanks for the feedback mate, I want to find a way to make the build fuller but at the same time cut it to something minimal again before the drop. So we'll see what happens!

thanks man! It was a pretty fluid production process, something that I don't come by too often unfortunately haha.

Nice to hear from you, hope you've been well.

Hi all! It's been a while since I've been on here but I wanted to share a remix I'm working on right now. I know, the original is nearly perfect but I couldn't resist trying my hand at it. I took a minimal trance approach with a blend of progressive trance. Let me know what you think! (:

WIPs / Re: Progressive Trance/House i'd love feedback before mixdown

The piano and the high synths seem a bit harsh, maybe turn the amplitude down or throw some reverb on it to have it softer? Other than that, love it! Excited to hear the finished version.

I've had this track under my belt for a while now because I couldn't find a suitable ending and bass pluck BUT I think I found something I like. Let me know what you think! It'd be amazeballs to get this played at Dreamstate, one can dream  ;D

That's pretty nice. It reminds me of the stuff Asura does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uW5Jef1okQ

Listening this all of this now, thanks for the link! Love finding new musicians (:

Hey all, so after playing No Man's Sky, I was blown away by their music and it inspired me to make an ambient-into-trance song. Let me know what you think!

WIPs / Re: Uplifting bassline feedback?
« on: July 20, 2016, 08:19:24 pm »
Nice tune man! There's alot of stereo going on so maybe if you brought all the frequencies under 150 to mono it would balance it out? The kick also seems a bit faded, not sure if it's drowned out by other lower frequencies or if it's the sample itself, but try cutting the low end off the bass synths and subs and add a small amount of compression and saturation to the kick. Also, love the lyrical breakdown with the synth plucks! At 4:33 i thought my internet d/ced with the silence lol. I'd add a riser or fall in that spot or put some delay/reverb on either the synth or the vocals to fill that space, although that's just preference!

Nice work man, keep it up!

WIPs / Re: My mind is a movie trailer and this is the soundtrack

It didn't sound like trance at all at the start, but when the drum kicked in at 1:27, everything became different!!

I only listened to Anjunabeats trance style, and this is very new. I didn't expect trance music to progress like this through those 3 mins.

I wanted the song to be longer tho.. the song sounded like an intro of a bigger picture

Haha thanks man! I usually try to do the Anjunabeats style but usually when I'm free-balling my creativity takes a different approach. I could go back and change it to be a bit more A&B style but I'm not sure if I want to, but I'll definitely make it longer (:
