What does it mean if a loop is labelled F?

It means it's labelled bad.

Maybe it are drum loops, referring to te tone of the kick?

The song starts with a groovy drumpattern.

The white noise on 0:46 is a bit 'plain'. Maybe you should add an effect to that, something like a delay, or a reverb to make it longer. I would chose for a pingpong delay to make it more interesting. Just an idea. Something to fill up that break more, it lacks something.

After the break, at 1:00 I expect something more than only the sound that are used before the break, something more exciting. I would move the hihat that comes in @ 1:17 to 1:00. I know the melody is coming in but it comes in slow. Or maybe you should just add another downlifter @ 1:00. Nothing too drastic, I suppose you want to keep it minimal.

The break and drop @ 2 minutes is just perfect!! Techno as it should be.

How about a string like synthpad after the break @ 3:04? Or something white noise based to fill up the spectrum? Just my random thoughts.

Overall I like the track but I guess if it was my arrangement, I would add some tiny little extras to keep the listener more excited.

But the vibe and the feeling the song creates, is great!!

Ok, my time to bite back.  ;D

The first thing I notice is the clarity of the mix, you mixed this to perfection according to my ears (on Audioteknika M50x headphones). I dream of such crispy hihats! And the mix isn't crushed to death into a limiter. It takes courage to sacrifice loudness to let clarity and dynamics take the upper hand. Congratulations!

The part starting on 3:40 reminds my of Underworld and I like them! Is it a familiar arpeggio, I can't pinpoint it but my head is nodding while typing this. :)

I would call it house but the name isn't important when it's as groovy and contagiously as this.

Thank you very much, KickingPlastic. I'm happy with your feedback.
And no, feedback isn't criticism.

Unfortunately I don't have access to hardware, I don't know hardware users in real life.

There's the new ABL3 (https://www.audiorealism.se/abl3.html) but I miss a good distortion plugin next to it. Probably d16's Devastor?

Hmm. Ok, I guess I was wondering if there's a better way to do this. Should I be mixing/producing so that all the elements of my mix are always equally clear for example?

Hmm, clarity in a mix doesn't mean that everything has to be equally noticable. If everything would be equally noticable, you will have a flat mix. Imagine a synth pad equally loud as your lead. That wouldn't be a great mix. Pads are made to be in the background but that doesn't mean they don't have to be clear. Maybe a pad isn't that noticable but is the mix less interesting if you mute the pad? If yes, the pad belongs in the mix although it won't attract the listeners attention like a lead, for instance.

But thos little extras gives the listener the feeling of 'I don't know why but I like this song'.

I hope that makes sense.

It starts with a really full synth sound, setting the mood of the song. Maybe the first sound of the song, just before the synth (sort of impact sound) can be louder? Because the rich synth pad is pretty loud in comparison.

And yes, the drop sound like apocalypse!!  Loud and clear! The very short synth stabs in between the massive bassline make good use of stereo spread and they sound dissonant in a pleasing way.

The mix sounds loud without sounding distorted.

Short song but with lots of intricate variations (different synth stabs with a variety of colours).

I replayed it to be able to notice all different parts, so yeah, it's an interesting listen!

You're fast!!

Thanks for your feedback. I always send my drum sounds to a very short room reverb (on which I cut everything below 250 Hz). That's probably the stereosound you're hearing.

The main synth is done with d16's Phoscyon and I have totally overdriven the plugin (it has a built in distortion/saturation section). But yeah, it's still possible it doesn't contain enough highs.

Thanks for the feedback, I aprreciate it! And now I'm out to check your song.

Well, if it makes a difference (after all, you notice a difference) and the version with the subtle extra sounds better, it's good!

If I finish a song and deleted something I regret later, I always will remember that flaw when I hear the song. Not good! :)

Four days ago, before I created a login, I saw this post and until now I couldn't find it back. :o

This song is beautiful!! So full and rich textures, giving me goose bumps. and what a fantastic vocal performance (both male and female)! It's sounds so professional.

Just one little remark. It sounds like the volume increases between 1:08 and 1:20 and then it goes down again. @ 4:04 the volum increases again in a way it distracts my attention a bit. Is it done by automation?

Fantastic work!!

I thought I saw a bandcamp of you but I can't open the page right now (http://www.delta-s.bandcamp/). Is it deleted?

This song needs more attention!! But I guess this board is populated with people who are more interested in electronic music?

Hello,

Here's my try on minimal. All comments about whatever you want (arrangement, sound design, mixing, mastering,...) are welcome.

WHOOOAAAAH, the change rom the jazzy feel to one of the heaviest basslines I have ever heard, did grab me by the balls. I guess this was your intention, and boy, did it work!! I rewinded it several times, fantastic.

Where's the rest of this EP? I guess I want more.

P.S.: I hope you will change the typo on the cover before releasing.

The more quantity you produce, the more chance for quality.  :D

This is a nice slow tempo bass heavy track. I like the combination af a (more or less) dubstep like bassline on a 4/4 beat. Mix sounds really fine, I couldn't tell you what to improve.

I enjoyed the song until the end.

Hey,

What kind of feedback are you looking for? This is music you didn't create yourself so we can't comment on mixing/mastering, it's a dj mix.

It's a fine mix, I guess this must have cost you unbelievably much work to create those 10 minutes and it isn't boring for 1 single second. Profesionally done for sure!

Hey Nick,

I listened twice to samples of your album, getting my ears a few hours of rest in between.

Some of your songs sound very bright to me. A bit ear fatiguing, in fact. Around 17:40 for example, I think the (supersaw like) synth sounds too bright for my ears. 36:37 is another of those moments.

Nothing dramatic, making a gentle roll off on the high end of the synths would fix the problem. I think those mixes will have a fuller, more bass heavy sound but lowering the high frequencies. It's not in all your songs, though.

I like the genre and the musicalty overall. I would download an album like this.

I hope others hop in on this topic and let us know what they think about the mixing.
