Sound Design / Re: Layering chords (how much is too much if any)
« on: October 27, 2016, 01:36:16 pm »
well for example the 1 Chord for C major, thats 1 3 5 notes

you have C E and G, you can have the 7th or something so C E G B

id say 4/5 notes can chord to get going, but you'd need the topline melody also

but also depends on what you are making? what are you making?

its alright man, its part of the process, some days will be harder than others

i think you could to go back to the basics and learn music theory

learn how chords are made, the progressions, triads, 7ths, 9th etc.

try and study popular music out there or your favourite stuff that makes you inspired

open up your piano roll and try to practice, even if its tough, i think that's important
everyday i have to play around with the piano roll to keep it going lol

have you tried guitar rig? it sounds like you can get that sound if you tweak enough

wanna upload your snare roll so we can listen? maybe you are too hard on yourself, or over listening

Sound Design / Re: How Do I Sample/Resample Like This?
« on: October 19, 2016, 01:21:33 pm »
well you have to get the basics right, so work with construction kits for starters,
you have to train your ears over time and some samples work better than others

over time, collect your own personal samples and build your own sample library
your own kicks, claps, rides etc

you should check out dave parkinson's trance essentials because the youtube clips you posted were uplifting trance, dave parkinson works with simon patterson

go for specs cause music production takes sooo much CPU

i7 and 16gb ram, good hardrive space 1tb or 2 will do good

write down on a piece of paper, what you'd like to improve, like melody or drums, sound design, mixing, composition and work on it

and work harder, at least 8 hours per day or more
you have to be looking at a daw continously

keep going bro, i still have too much to improve as well, as we all are
