Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Struggling With Sound Design

my suggestion to you is to flip through presets that fit that sound, and try to study that sound the best you can, after that you can tweak it to make it your own sound or use the preset as a starting point to make your own sound

this means you have to study sythesis, so pick 1 synth, like the sylenth or massive and learn how it works

be patient man, 2.5 years or producing isn't quite long enough yet

273
just go with how you feel?

if you wanna finish off tracks, finish them and if you wanna play with sythesizers, play with the synthesiser

just make sure the time you are using is spent wisely and you're always learning

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Production Process Thread

its the baseline and melody that make the track, so these are the most important, you need a baseline and melody catchy enough that people want to listen to it over and over again..

that is easier said than done lol

the drums and fills then come which are important too, with the drums i think its about selecting the right sounds for your tune

then the arrangements and mixing come in and i think they get easier after practice

its about thinking outside the box, and the creativity muscle gets stronger with practice i think and being open to new things

i think its important to be a DJ too or listen to a lot of new records, so you can see all the tracks that come out, and why they grab attention

so really its all about practice, practice and practice

serum is getting popular

i still use the good old sylenth and massive though

sylenth will go to version 3 sooner or later i think

283
does anybody stream deadmau5 streams while producing

his new studio is mouth watering

you are what you study man

so learn music theory, learn how melodies and chords work

learn how to use eq, compression, learn how to use percussion, sythesis, how music is made and composed

study everything man, look at how the pros do their work, what do they use? how do they think?

look at the good music out there, try and emulate it and make it your own without stealing it

its a serious task if you want to make great music

the quickest way to get into this from my experience is..

have a template that you have made ready so you can get your ideas on the daw asap
like have a channel for your kick, bass, percussion, lead,  etc

chuck on some pre made loops so your brain get get going, it doesnt have to be the perfect loop
play some chords, try and have fun

think of the blank canvas as the place to put your art, its like drawing a picture on a white piece of paper

its best to stick to one daw that you like, i was on logic before, and then i tried ableton and i found ableton to be the quickest to get my ideas on, its alright to switch daws, they all do the same thing kinda
