which key are you playing in?

D major is bright for progressive house

try and study some of the progressive house out there, they all follow a similar pattern

i like to use massive for white noise, theres options for different white noise you want

play around with the filters and macro controls

save the patches so you can come back to it anytime

the tracks you make are a reflection of who you are...

you dont always have to sidechain to the kick 4 by 4, try mixing it up by sidechaining to a different kick pattern

are you using LFO tools by xfer, you can play around with the sidechaining too

hope this helps

if you can make a melody you can make a melody

if you can make a track, you can make a track

261
always start with the piano and the melody because its the melody and composition that makes the track

then you need synths for the melody, layering, sidechainig, all that stuff

then the drums and effects,

arranging, mixdowns, mastering

easier said than done but thats how i go about it

262
its very hard to learn production on your own, you need someone with experience and knows more than you, with the technical aspects like synthesis, and chord progressions etc and 'has been there and done it'

so i think its better to look at the online courses, and tutorials and the works of your producers you admired and study them completely

if you can find a mentor, that will be even better because its the habits of a producer that you want to learn from

you should be a sponge and soak in all proper knowledge you can

263
yes always

this means you need to switch to another project

or even start a new one from scratch

but its important to finish off tracks too

play with different sounds, and do something that you didnt do before

all the presets will sound flat, so you just need reverb, ping pong, sidechaining, and probably sending some feed to the bus, with a hall or something

« on: February 11, 2016, 10:48:17 pm »
its okay for your confidence to drop, it happens to everyone

but you have to bounce back fast, cause producing is linked with confidence

so do anything you build you your esteem again, go and play with sylenth, download some presets, go and play some chords etc, get some new plug ins, get a subscription to a magazine, rework a track, watch some tutorials etc

there is so much to work on with music production

yeah if it appeals to you, you should try it

you can always try the demo versions to get a feel about it all

if you're a trance producer, i really recommend the sylenth, massive and serum now, i wasn't convinced of serum but i tried it and it appeals to me now lol

c'mon dude, its okay to be emotional but you cant be too emotional in this world, no one cares about your life stories cause you have to be strong in the music business

what are your ambitions man?

do you want to make music for fun? or to go to reach the top?

it is sacrifice to get to anywhere in this world, like being a doctor etc you must give to get cause nothing is free
this means you have to put in the hours to develop your craft

most people in this world are lazy and wont put in the madness hours to get where they want, these people expect a big result and end up short, I'm talking about anybody really, not just music

you have to believe in your game and fight for what you want in this world, that is for any career

always man, depending on the sample you're going to have to use eq, reverb, ping pong, sidechaining etc
