you can just chop them with your daw

then you have to add reverb, delay etc

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Equalization Of Lead Layers
« on: March 02, 2016, 10:23:58 am »
layering is first about picking the right sounds

then the sounds must all compliment each other nicely to form 1 in harmony

you need sounds to cover the high, mids and lows and then add more to your liking to add texture

when i first began like years ago.. i used to stack supersaw after supersaw but this is the incorrect way to layer

i know your frustrations but those guys wont show you 'the real things' they do, you'll only get a snippet of what happens lol
and Markus doesnt even make his own tracks I've heard, from mat zo lol

take the most from them but you have to study basslines in general i think to understand it, there is a lot of sound design, layering behind baselines, its not just the notes

maybe try and work on something else and it'll come around

Honestly, the only thing that will get you anywhere near that sound is tons of practice. There's no tutorial out there that will cover trance basslines at that production skill level. The closest tutorial would be the one that Adam Ellis did recently.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ25FKG_4OM

agreed, hands down, all those baselines and leads that make the track are within the producer himself, this is what makes you unique

its good to 'copy' and imitate a bass but these guys will always be aahead of you cause they have their own unique vision and spin on it

so learn and shape it to your own..

I've had a lot of rolling baselines in my tracks

I put it on either the G or D scale

armin has a lot of in in his gaia tracks

these are on the 16th and use 2 notes
1 for the first and 2nd on the 2nd note, moving just an octave higher

you can start to get a typical bass by just putting a note before the kick

Sound Design / presets vs sound design
« on: February 28, 2016, 11:54:30 am »
i know lot of people use presets and tweak them, what do you think?

good to do both yeah? presets and synthesis knowledge

you can check out the videos on future music magazine, a lot of the producers use two monitors

check out deadmau5's studio, etc

with equipment, go with your gut and go for the stuff you want, dont go too cheap cause you'll end up short in the end

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Logic CPU optimization thread!
« on: February 27, 2016, 10:46:08 pm »
it could be the age of your laptop, laptops get slow every year, same with every computer

restart the laptop, low cpu plug ins like sylenth are great, shut off all other programs you're using

hmm, are you using big plug ins? like kontakt? omnisphere? nexus etc

i know other producers use logic and they tell me that even logic crashes

start off with vengeance, yeah i know its generic but it works

then you can try with freshly squeezed, samplephonics etc

you should be building your own personal library so you know what works and what you like

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Layering a snare over a kick. Mix help

which EQ are you using and how much are you cutting?

if you are using fab filter, you can turn on an analyser to help you eq

and its also selecting the right samples too to fit the kick
