If you're going for that 80s sound, I suggest you find some proper TR-707 snares and look into the infamous "gated verb"-technique. Right now I feel like the snare is not meshing well with the vibe you're going for.  ;)

Hey thanks man, I never thought about this.

I'll try this out but it might not work due to the nature of the project but this is something I'll definitely be using in the future. Good feedback +1

Still trying to figure out where to put my midi-keyboard. I guess a trip to IKEA will be a solution to that problem.

Yes it comes and goes. Can't deal with it really, I've seen all the advice but when to rollercoaster starts ascending theres nothing I can do really. Evertyhing just sounds like shit and I feel worthless.

Sometimes I feel super motivated and I try to make the best of those times.

All this goes hand in hand with my real life (not related to music). If things are going well then music is more enjoyable but when the depressive times hits, well, havent found a solution.

It happens to us all... I think the more experienced you get, the more rarely you get this. Also when you produce consistently it will happen less.

Second to that, I also think that other things that are happening to you in life are causing it as well.

For me, its quite the other way around. When I was starting out I rarely got too overwhelmed about music related stuff and everything was pretty fun. Now as I get better the frustration and angst increase. It's getting worse every year as I get better.

It sounds really good and clean overall.

However at around 1.07 it starts to get a bit crowded and I think the melody is a bit weird, it sounds too happy and out of key to me. The sidechain is really nice and subtle, but after 1.07 it starts sounding somehow weird, not sure why exactly.

I have a really special markup system I use. It's in my head.

The trick ive used, is to always set my audio interface volume knob to the same position. That way I'll get used to that volume and know how shit sounds when the knob is set to my default position. You can take a marker and mark a little spot so you'll remember the volume position.

Ofc this requires some listening and judging, it takes some time to find the right volume.

If u dont have an interface just do the same with windows mixer or whatever your using.

This has helped me to get used to lower volumes.

Try giving feedback to others before asking for it.

So yeah here is probably the finished version.

So, anyone have any thoughts on the mixdown in general? I applied a gentle limiter on the master + some eq so the master shouldn't fuck anything up too bad.

Yeah. I'd like to hear some other opinions on this before I call this one finished. Does everything sound right and if not what would you guys fix or change?

Thanks in advance.

The supersaw is definitely overcompressed. I literally cant hear anything but the supersaw and the plucky thing. You should take it easy on the compression/limiting too, it sounds super squashed as it is.

It sounded really clean until the supersaw dropped. I think you should lower the volume and the compression of the supersaw.

I usually just end up turning the volume down. Are you on headphones or monitors by the way?

Id get the monitors and try to evaluate how badly the room rings and whats going on in that room.

I guess you just need to deal with it. You could try to put your table in the narrow end of your room to slightly improve the image but I'm afraid you dont have the room.

Just try the monitors out and learn to deal with your room, not much else I can say im sorry :/
