You gotta work on both things at the same time if you want to consider a mindset change.

and a mindset change requires mindfulness, meaning, what you do in the present makes the difference in how you will do things from that point on.

I chose to drink water, after drinking soda with my whataburger meals for the past 3 weeks(1 drink with meal, 1 refill).

I've been drinking water with my fast food meals for the past 2 weeks (with less soda;1 water 1 soda)

just a little example...

175+

half time drum and bass.

It follows patterns to that of many main stream edm genres (they don't really change, aside from the sound they use and mixing preferences)

Mussar is on point though.

what monitors would you recommend heatcliff? I was thinking of the tannoy reveal 802's since I have actually really liked my 501's. I'm thinking about maybe getting a sub too

I'd look into getting 8 inch speakers.

Subs are kind of unruly, and you need a larger space to use them properly. Plus you won't make people angry.

Sound Design / Re: Big room stabs

that's literally a stab with reverb on it dude.

They probably do have some compression on it.

Best way is to look at how the relationship between transients and compressor activation work.

I deliberately make my songs short, because i don't want things to drag on.

Unless i can make it flow in a way that's beneficial, then i'll copy and paste parts.

I don't really mess with the verse or chorus to much, but i tend to change what's happening on the build ups, break downs, intro, outro

might be cheaper to get them fixed.

I'd also figure out what the problem was and how it became a problem. (talk to the repair dudes)

Other wise, you can replace them if you want, but a more economical decision would be to repair what you have, unless you're looking for a change.

awesome thank you, now is there a way to do this same thing in cool edit for vocals?

You could just set your entire project to mono and adjust from there.

or find a stereo width plug in, and make sure that it has mono capabilities and slap it on w/e instrument/channel you want to check it out on

I work in Ableton so Im not familiar with FL, but seems more CPU friendly to put the plugin on the master and then just SOLO whatever track you wanna test the MONO on. That's what I do at least.

yea doesn't matter, does the same thing.

But, if CPU usage is your concern, then yea you can do that

Whenever I have the option, yes. The larger the speaker and the higher the dB SPL, the more obvious the degradation, particularly in the high end.

Will the drunk, high, or rolling people notice? Probably not. Will the sober people? Maybe, but with how few people seem to wear ear protection at these events that could change. ;) But you'll definitely start to notice, and I think it's worth it in the long term to invest in something that won't risk being accentuated by a FoH limiter or a DJ Mixer's effects/EQ knobs.
Well, could you do a successful mix of MP3 for streamed audio content?

When would it be ok to use which format?
Thank you for the insight

I was going to say that I would be surprised if a DJ wasn't using WAV files to mix at festivals or a club. Only makes sense to use the best quality option available.

^ That's such a good point about working smart. Lots of people seem to obsess about the number of tracks you have to produce, about how many hours you have to work before you hit a certain level of expertise. But those hours of work are not progress if you don't keep actively learning new things.

quantity works if you are actually active in the learning process though...

But it's the acknowledgement of wanting to get better is the key.

90% of the time i use sylenth, its just so damn versatile. when im in the mood for a challenge i mess around in sytrus, but FM hurts my head a lot. OH and 3xosc, that little thing rules.

marrow, how is it not being able to use external VSTs? reason seems super powerful but that's a big turnoff for me.

I love the stability reason offers.

You do have access to external VST's, it's just that you're limited to using them only in reason, and what is provided to you by propellerhead.

But, reason is definitely worth it in terms of the sounds you get and the access to all the different synthesizers (stock especially).

One thing that's kinda lame is the whole difference of pan laws between daws. idk if that effects exported audio being played at a different pan law setting...

It's also a bit of a difference in mindset. I have ableton and loved it, but i didn't really find that it suited my style. Plus i appreciate the analogue on a budget approach.

Overall it just fit my work flow and personality more!

But it's very powerful and extremely creative, and definitely worth a look if you want a massive expansion on sound capabilities for your main daw.

I am learning the PX7, parsec, and rob papen's predator. All for reason.

The rest of reason's stock stuff like thor, maelstrom, and subtractor are well known to me at this point.

I browsed over it, and i noticed there wasn't a whole lot of song sectioning.

May not want to stick to the whole multiples of 4 bar sort of thing, but it does help if you can differentiate your ideas enough.

Lot of repetition, in a not so good way (as in a recurring theme).

Mixing sounds pretty ok, that lead sticks out like a sore thumb, but overall it's alright.
