Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: No Music Background...Thoughts?

I don´t think it has too much importance.  I never learned to play any instrument prior to producing, but I don´t feel like it has impaired my ability to visualize what ever I want to make. A lot of people know "everything" about the theories, and have the ability to play whatever is being put in front of them, but are still lacking the creativity to make interesting music.
Just keep pushing.

The cable is mono, so if you connect to the left output solely, it should work.

Honestly this is the same as having a homeless person come up to you and ask for change.

How can I down vote this?  Really sh**ty way to talk about people.

Both Sleepy and Wayfinder has some valid points IMO.  My question now is how long is this debate going to unfold? None of the mods seem to weigh in on any discussions in the past week, so I really don´t see what other points can be made than the ones already brought up.
I am in a place where I feel don´t care what happens, as long as a decision is made, regarding how this section of the forum is supposed to work.
The reddit dick pic analogy, mentioned in earlier posts, is what best describes the section in its current state.  And if that is how it is supposed to be here, then I can live with it.  Because then I´ll know that I´ll chose carefully who I am willing to lend an ear, and give an opinion.

*edit: Horrible grammar

I enjoyed this one. Got a bit caught up in thinking about you making all of the synths.  It most have taken very long to complete.  It was nice to hear that you had captured the feeling of your inspiration, but not copied it.  Don´t know about the commercial opportunities, but it is a really nice piece of work.
Good luck with it.

I have nothing up at the moment, so I just hope you´ll just pay if forward.

I really liked this.  Has a lot of nice flavor.  My only thought for improvement is that if you can add some sharpnes to the snare(not sure if you even have one) without losing the flow of the song.  Hope this helps.  Good track.  Good luck with it :)

With a 15 points limit, there would be like 7 tracks posted on this forum by now.... :P  That´s the approximate number of users who have earned enough.  Many don´t give points when they receive feedback. Many don´t even give thanks when they receive feedback.  I would like to have the moderators weigh in on this discussion.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Purchasing MIDI only sound packs
« on: January 15, 2016, 08:04:34 am »
The main issue with midi packs is weather or not they contribute to your creativity.  I usually start out just mocking around in the piano roll, but sometimes I want to just make something fast.  Then it´s cool to just import a midi file and play around with it until it´s no longer recognizable.  It´s what I do that is the creative part, not the file.  I´ve even made tracks that started out as Ableton lessons.  The end result was nothing like the tutorial tho´.

If anybody can make KNAS, then why don´t they do that?  Instant fame.  Just add water!  If S.A. had no clue he would never have seen the possibilities of the midi.  If VEC or whoever had thought their packs was ready-to-go hits, they could just sell the finished tracks to Bieber or the likes.  That would generate a hell of lot more cash than selling maybe 1.000 copies of the packs, and having them pirated to 10.000 bedroom producers.

And to the people who says using presets: WTF!  Seriously, there´s at least 50.000 presets available for Massive.  You´re just flattering yourself if you think you can make one that does not already exist.

This thread is yelling for this:
I thought using loops was cheating, so I programmed my own using samples. I then thought using samples was cheating, so I recorded real drums. I then thought that programming it was cheating, so I learned to play drums for real. I then thought using bought drums was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought using premade skins was cheating, so I killed a goat and skinned it. I then thought that that was cheating too, so I grew my own goat from a baby goat. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t made any music lately, what with the goat farming and all.

WIPs / Re: Seeking specific feedback for original track
« on: January 14, 2016, 03:48:34 pm »
1. Yes
2. It flows, but it´s a bit strangely built. An 8 minute long track is hard to keep interesting in itself, and here it takes 2.5 minutes to reveal a theme.  Maybe you should introduce it sooner, and put the first break before that(formulaic, but it works).  Think Hey Now(Sasha remix).
3: No, it sounds just fine.  Just needs a bit more direction

Good track. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Remember to leave feedback for others, now that you have got one.

It could do with even more oomf on the kick.  So for what I always seem to comment on: It´s very wide.  Put on a  glue compressor, and if you use a stereoizer then try turning it off or down.  Hope this helps.  Cool track.
