Does anyone know if integrating tapatalk could be an option ?

My strongest tracks I've spent months on, but only hours at time. I have large portfolio and like to skip around a lot, and also a college student so I don't have all the time in the world. . I'm finally to the point were I have some finished songs and I also have about 50 other projects that are at various levels of completion. I have release plan set to put out a track every month. I think it will be a lot easier for me to put finishing touches on at least one of my wip per month, than if I had to deal with coming up with ideas from scratch. Just my way of working, thought I'd share.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Why do you do it?

I do it because I love escaping into a song that's never been heard before. Music is the best escape from this reality.

I post snapchat stories with quick parts of my songs it's fun to send other producers little previews

Either play around with presets or do some sound design. I usually like to keep things minimal so I'll usually start with the root note. Just depends on the song really. Sometimes I'll go the progressive route and just play my main melody but use trance plucks.

Definitely needs a good mix down/master throughout the track but the arrangement is great haha, i busted up laughing when i heard the drop its so awesome.

maybe try a filter sweep on your white noise instead of just volume automation. it kind of takes away from the synths when it comes in.

Im having so much fun with this track, its utterly ridiculous. Still haven't come up with an idea for the last verse but I'm pretty happy with what i have so far. This is just a starting point I rushed through some parts just so that I could close to a semi-finished song.  So you'll probably notice that some noises don't quite fit especially in the second verse.

Please let me know any ridiculous ideas that you come up with while listening, I'm open to collaborators but I'll need some reference tracks to make sure that your collaboration will improve the song, along with what you would want to add/bring to the table.   ;D

Please let me know about Mixing/arrangement, I thought this track would be a lot of fun for everyone to listen too, I know I've been laughing my ass off for hours now.

respectfully,

gel time seems like it has alot of potential maybe with the a different arrangement you could use what you have as an intro/chorus and then build it up to something else? I felt like it was going to go somewhere but stayed with the progressive vibe. Just my two cents :)

and with a little mixing here and there, that bassline could totally work you should incorporate it.

Maybe try a different clap, kind of opinion based but I personally don't like when they sound hollow/organic I think you could maybe cut out some problem frequencies, again this is highly opinion based.

And i would also put a snare punch right before the drop to signal that this is where the beat kicks in, kind of like how deadmau5 does in strobe. I actually like the hi hats, but i would apply some distortion/saturation to bring out there tone and maybe mess with the velocity a little bit.

Im interested to see what you change the lead to, it fits pretty nicely i thought. I really like your style and I love making this style of progressive house songs as well.  ;D

what really sticks out to me is how your main lead sound gets kinda lost in the mix when it drops, i believe its due to too much reverb on the effects/vocals and phasing from the effects with your main lead noise, I would try to do some more eq adjustments and definitely try to do some panning on your drums the sit dead center in the mix.

I find that it helps alot when you nudge certain things to the left and right a little bit. Also try eqing away conflicting frequencies where your clap sits cause it feels like it gets lost at times. especially on my studio monitors.

the white noise/shakers could also do a lot better with some more groove/possibly different samples. they come across pretty clear but kind of sound weak. Something that might help would be to apply some saturation/distortion to them. if the vocals already have too much reverb you can always try to apply a gate effect with a low threshold to try and tame it.

Your idea is great but i think you might to need to spend more than today on it to get it up to standard quality, but please by all means prove me wrong.

good luck!

the kick is great but may i suggest adding some sort of top end to it? maybe sample another kick to give it some higher frequency content, i think it would add more punch.

WIPs / Re: Need mixing/mastering tips on this track!!
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:07:53 pm »
try eqing away some of the bass where your clap/snare sits because it sounds like its getting lost especially in the second drop. the first time the grainy bass comes in you have a snare topper that compensates for this but it doesnt come in on the second drop so i would say either add that or do some eq cuts on the bass. or you could try centering your bass in the mix and widening your clap. experiment with different ways to get everything clear. sometimes unorthodox tricks work pretty well.

maybe try reworking the melody it doesn't flow too well, drop kind of needs a transition/buildup comes in unexpected, drums are on point, groove flows well.
