Finished Tracks / Re: [Melodic Dubstep] Galantis - Runaway (Bizo Remix)

Sounds good.

I make melodic dubstep a lot too, so I know how hard it can be at times to mix those growls with the supersaws. It can become cluttered quick.

Thanks!

Yeah, for sure it is, it's the first time I made melodic dubstep like that :D

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Stereo Separation

I'm using the Stereo Imager on Ozone

All in mono below 100hz, a bit wide for the mids and the highs a lot too

It's also called a "build-up" :)

There so many ways to do one, it will come naturally when you're making a track :)

Totally agree with this! I'm more into live playing than mixing so it would be great :D

Was messing around with Serum and remade the Rollin' & Scratchin' sound from Daft Punk :) :

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Good Reggae Guitar Skanks?
« on: January 13, 2016, 08:02:00 am »
You can sample from old 'dub' records like King Tubby or Mad Professor, I remember hearing the guitar alone in various songs.
Otherwise, Musicradar has some free sample packs with guitars.
I grabbed a bunch off splice sounds, there's a bunch of libraries on there you can sift through.

Thanks for the tips! :)

No screen here but I have group tracks on the mixer (drums, chords, basses, fx..) which are routed to one track with the fruity limiter used as a compressor for the sidechain

on the master i have Ozone and SPAN

Sound Design / Re: How do I pull the vocals out of a finished song?
« on: January 10, 2016, 10:26:27 am »
If you have the instrumental you can get the acapella with phase invertion
A good idea in theory! I just can't find the instrumental or the acapella anywhere :/
If i were to find an instrumental, in order to use phase to remove the vocal would I just play the two on top of each other, invert the phase of the instrumental and record the result? simple as that?

Yes, but the instrumental and the original have to be the exact same quality

dude this is sweet, sub sounds fine to me. I agree with the kick and snare not being punchy enough. The mix sounds spot on in the beginning, I'd say maybe a bit less so in the drop but it's not bad by any means, just sounds a bit less controlled during the drop. Not sure how to help you there though, maybe reduce the growls by a db or two or compress? I thought the buildup was pretty good, could just use some automation and/or fade in on the kicks. Cool ideas though, man! I love the break and little fill right before the drop.
Heyo,

Sub bass is fine. Kick is too weak and not punchy enough, Snare too. Try to sidechain more if you like them tho. Yes, you definitely need more sidechain on basically everything. Also to make the second drop more intersting, try changing the midi or chop more those basses. ;)

Although, good track. :D

Thanks for the feedback guys! :D
I agree about the kick and snare being not punchy enough in the drop, in the intro I like the way it sound, not too hard to give that "chill" feeling :)

Also don't worry for the others drop, I have some ideas atm but in this version, it's all ctrl c ctrl v haha

I'll give it a try for the sidechain too :)
Didn't thought about that for

It's cool, but there are so many sites dedicated to this.

Yeah but, imagine someone not well known who's searching for remixers, it's the perfect place to found some! I agree with this suggestion :)
