Hey everyone, Just a few thoughts here. A lot of people use music to inspire their songwriting/production, but what about non musical influence? How often have you taken a long walk in nature, had a memorable night out with friends, (Dare I say) had some really great sex, played a really interesting - fun or thought provoking video game... literally anything that doesn't directly relate to music, and then just felt completely inspired by your experience to make music?

I bring this up because at times I'll go through phases where the only thing on my mind is music. I'll be so driven to write that its painful to step away from listening to and writing music and just experience life. It almost consumes you sometimes, and you forget what its like to get out and enjoy the world. As soon as I step outside of that lonely, mental box and actually live a bit, ideas come naturally. They just appear in my head without having to think very hard about them and it fills me with so much inspiration to make good music without having to force it out. Does anybody else feel the same sometimes?

- you can reach some following even through cliché stuff like youtube comments, if stick to ORIGINALITY of the comment, not typical "I'm 12 years old bedroom producer, check my channel" but comment songs relevant to your style with something like "can you imagine this song with sax intro and in 110 BPM? Give my channel a try!"...

my two eurocents here.

I always see people spamming comment sections and I never really thought it could be a smooth way of getting followers, but what you just said sort of makes sense if done well enough. I just don't wanna be "that guy" lol

Imo someone should only start promoting their music once they have a clearly defined sound and plan on maintaining it.

True... The hardest part for me about this is that I enjoy making too many different kinds/styles/genres of music lol, I wouldn't know where to start and what sound to pick unless I just advertised a bunch of different monikers and stuck with whatever hits it off best

Fair enough, not sure how to remove the full thread but oh well lol

Hey everyone, I'm looking for opinions on something many of us are probably interested in doing at some point in our music-making careers.. I'm considering sending some of my tracks to various promoters, be it youtube channels (i.e. MrSuicideSheep, TSYN etc.) or Soundcloud promos like edm.com, Record labels.. Basically any place that searches for artists to promote. Does anybody here have some experience with this type of thing? What are your opinions on this? How do you know when you are ready to start handing your music out? Where would you go or what is your idea of the optimal route?  ???

WIPs / Re: Lo-Fi work in progress, what are your thoughts? :)

Love the song, but on my particular headphones, it sounded like I was listening through a wall. Maybe
some sort of filtering issue? Given, I have no experience with lo-fi, and that may just be the style.
Just seemed like an absence of high end. Otherwise tho, the beat was catchy and smooth, and it was
funky and fun to listen to. Killin' it :)

Thanks! :D

You gotta practice and you gotta invest into quality equipment, and continue to practice.

You can buy relatively cheap stuff and sit and complain as to why you're not getting the results you want.

Every thing else has been said from the emotional to the technical concepts.

You just have to grind it out and continue to progress in quality (skills and equipment).

I'd bury my head deep into skills though if i had to choose one. The equipment you choose helps refine skills in ways.

I totally agree with you on the importance of practice, but I can't say I feel the same about needing to invest in quality equipment. There are plenty of great musicians and producers that are successful with a minimalist approach to gear. Plenty of relatively inexpensive instruments and setups that can sound phenomenal in the right musician's hands and imo its not as much what you have as it is what you can do with it. The same principal can apply to production, great sounding records and songs have been made on equipment that would make your average audiophile cringe

I like the song and the rhythm especially, its good for the experience you and your friend have. I would look over your baseline and change it up, by itself its not so bad but it becomes a little tiring. Also try introducing your track with some synth plucks or stabs, its good but feels like it need needs that extra rhythmic/melodic element to feel complete. Keep up the good work

Finished Tracks / Re: Crying Machine ft Matt Freckles (Original Mix)

The drop really took me for surprise, I liked it a lot. I would look again at your melody, it gets a little boring as the first few minutes go by. Consider adding in a few different instruments and melodic lines as the empty/spacious parts progress but otherwise cool track!

Brilliant, cheerful, light and fun. If I had to give a piece of feedback? Maybe throw in a little high end, because the low seems a tad exaggerated. Otherwise a really great listen :) You have a new follower.

Much appreciated! :)

I like it, sorta has a future/space-stage in a video game type of vibe to it. I don't know what you're going for exactly with the track but that was what came to mind..either way nice work!

Title says it all, I wrote the rhythm/melody out just now and would love your opinions!

The video game sounds are all temporary, I'm not sure where I want this song to go sonically yet.

This is really good stuff! I love the soul drop and the groovy bassline and the demonic breakdown.

Can't even think of much to criticize. Maybe the second breakdown and ending are a bit boring, it's a kind of funny way to end the track.

Fair enough the outro was kinda just a random placeholder. Appreciate the feedback though I'll get right at it!
