Heres an idea... We all have vastly different production styles techniques etc, lets just go crazy and turn FP into a melting-pot collaboration unit until something good and fresh comes out. Then maybe Senpai Mat Zo will notice us... but probably not

I really dig your chord progression, but one thing I think you could have done to improve this track is add some type of lead to the track to make the song more memorable

Finished Tracks / Daft Punk - One More Time (Rework)

Hey everyone! Just finished a rework of Daft Punk's very classic dance track, One More Time! What do you guys think??

The Music industry is so over saturated with artists and genres (perceivably good and bad) that is so hard to tell whats going to be in or not. I remember just recently how trap blew up out of nowhere, people are making it left and right - its getting old pretty quick. It's really hard to tell because the next super genre doesn't even need to be in the realm of edm or electronic music of any sort. We all remember when warped tour was the thing right? Now its edc and other types of electronic festivals that are in my opinion on their way out sooner or later. I would kinda agree with mussar on this one lol. I would also pay attention to fashion/cultural trends that extend beyond just the music, I feel like that has to be pretty important too.

Not bad. Agreed with Munro Island, vocals need to get a bit louder. Also all the guitars might use a bit more 2k grit. Boost there a little. Also those breakdowns might use more spacey effects. Delays, reverb atc... But so far so good. :) The track itself is actually cool.

Thank you! Listening back I totally agree, the vocals are a definitely bit buried in there. And just to make sure, which sections are you referring to as the breakdowns?

Wow I think it sounds surprisingly good. Vocals sound a bit far away in the mix I think they need to be more upfront. Each sound could be cleaned up a bit with eq as well so they each have their own space in the mix and don't sound muddled. Did you use any real instruments for this? Like guitar or drums?

Thanks! Yup, I recorded my guitar and sang for this. Everything was me minus the drums. I actually sampled the drums from Spaceman by The Killers

Thankfully there is plenty of internal inspiration as well that I can rely on, for the days when I decide to become a recluse and avoid humans totally, except my GF for which I cant seem to find the off for button sometimes. (she would totally punch me in the throat for saying that  ;D)

lmao, totally sympathize with you on that one! (Especially the throat punching, they're crazy man!  :-X)

I kinda wanted to hear a fizzy saw lead with a bit of reverb/delay over your intro. The drop kinda took me by surprise and it was a real cool transition, but maybe filter your sounds besides the bass to get a really nice contrast through a bit of that section. When the super saw chords come in maybe add some more ambience around it, make it sort of float in a dreamy/ethereal sort of way. I love the idea man, cool stuff!

WIPs / Re: Brassy Song (Not sure what genre to call this)
« on: April 07, 2016, 10:41:00 pm »
Hey man, cool production. I think the mix and arrangement/ sound design is on point. As far as a production goes this is nice. Something that really bugs me about the track though is the actual music behind the production. Don't get me wrong, the melody and chords are pretty and work decent with the vibe of the song, until they start to get redundant for how long the song is. The same progression is going throughout the whole song and it would be nice to hear some type of varied structure over what you have here. At around 41 seconds in I would like to hear a chord progression that counters what has been going on, and maybe even filter those chords to build some tension. This song would be amazing if it had a roller coaster like development, it just stagnates too much. Hope this helped

WIPs / Re: Cant get the reverb right for this drop!
« on: April 07, 2016, 02:15:51 am »
I would have a bounced reverb tail set loud and side chained to that lead, so that when the lead drops out the reverb sways its way in. Nice chords by the way, very Flumey

Cool idea, Could be mixed better in a few spots (Like the flanged synth that bursts in the sides) and I might leave the hi-hat dry to contrast the flowy synth that comes in

Hey! So I decided to step farther out of my production comfort zone and gave Alternative rock a shot, what do you guys think of my song so far?

Hey everyone! The other day I took out an pretty old keyboard of mine (with some pretty unique Lo - Fi drum sounds and synths) and recorded them with my SM-57. I also recorded some guitar along with a few other live instruments! Its unmixed but what do you guys think?

Cosmo's Midnight's Remix of Sleepless (Flume) always gets me with those ambient stabs... Check it out, totally trumps the original in my opinion, just from how pretty the chords are.

Also Iris by Audien, Very euphoric sounding chords!
