From what I hear it beats everything else, including invisible limiter. Although, I haven't really seen any a/b.

How can you compare a multiband limiter to a single band limiter? It's like comparing apples to oranges. Two different things.

Sorry, I mean not like 1 on 1 a/b with i.e invisible limiter. More like how it sounds, if it's really that good.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Slate Digital- Just Get Them

If you want some compressors that are amazing and based off analog performance, pick up Slate Digital Virtual Bus Compressors. The response is unreal. I recall reading up on how producers were saying how some compressors worked better than others and I didn't have the experience to really recognize the difference between compressors...slate compressors are the only compressors where I was actually amazed at how good they sound in comparison to stock compressors. Highly recommend them if you can afford it.

When not compressing, they magically improve the sound really nice too.

+1 for this compressor. Have been using it for a while now.

So, been going trough some forums recently and I see this pop up everywhere.

From what I hear it beats everything else.

There's a demo available, but I haven't tried it out yet.

Anyone had a chance to check it out?

Good marketing or really that good?

Sounds a bit like a vinyl.. :-)

Try disable things 1 by 1, starting with your effects. This way you can narrow down the problem.

armin said he needed 20 something sounds for the main lead in

20 layers for a lead? :o

If you need that much, he's choosing the wrong sounds.

Maybe -> http://www.voxengo.com/product/span/

It's free and you can zoom & freeze in on the frequencies too.

To add to this;

It would also nice to have a notification when someone tags you, similar to a Facebook tag with @Ferio (if not abused)

I really want to know how Ilan did the layering of this awesome track.
I can hear the chord progression, but I have no clue how he layered the saws.

Please help me.. :(

When I think of Ilan I think of Maor Levi. He's on the board here too, so you could ask him. He can jump in once a while on topics like this.  :D

He has some tutorial vids on there, but imo one of the best sound designers. His banks are one of the best out there.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Audio Interface worth it?
« on: January 17, 2016, 09:57:46 am »
I was just wondering what the advantages are of having an audio interface (eg Focusrite 2i2) and whether it is worth getting one/essential/meh...

So, what do you think?

There're several reasons.

Latency (i.e delay between playing keyboard and hearing notes)
Sound Quality

I/O
Digital/Analog inputs
Sample rate
Recording
..and more...

Google a bit around and you will see it's worth it. (if you are using a simple soundcard)

Pretty basic, and yes im very anal about speakers.

Basic or not, would do anything to sit a day in the studio with you and just overload my brains with information!  :o :o :o 8)

Here's mine in the old house, pretty basic.

Since I hated the reflection of sounds in the old house I didn't use the monitors that much. Recently I moved to a bigger house and am currently converting a room into a DIY studio. Hopefully at the end of februari it's completed. It will have bass traps, wall panels & ceiling panels in the room, so in a month I will put an updated picture.

Seriously guys, I see a lot of photo's here with no or basic treating. Go spend some money on that! It's really worth it!

WIPs / Re: Having emotion in my trance breakdown~~ Feedback please (:

Had a listen.

Melody wise (for me) it's a bit too long. I would cut out the first minute, because it's not that interesting.

The part after that is interesting. Kinda Above & beyond style.. :-)

Would be good to have someone sing over it..

Definitely on the right track! Can see it will be released if worked out properly.

Seriously? one layer?

Do you have some project insight how you set it all up?

You guys should do some video tutorials on this stuff!

Some are really sounding (almost) like the original!
