my friend it looks like a motivation issue,

first off all 2 years and you haven't made a track, thats a problem, is this something you want to do? something you believe in? what genre of music do you like?
and going on and off ableton a week isn't good, you have to be producing on a consistent basis to get results

learn to make a track from scratch, i recommend looking at the basic stuff on sonic academy or point blank for beginners and go and develop momentum man

who gives a fuck about kanye? lol

323
yeah you gotta finish tracks start to end too, I'm just saying its better to learn the elements of a song, the science behind it all while making your tracks, or else you are doing the wrong thing and don't even know what you are doing, you gotta finish tracks thats important too

324
i dunno i think its better actually study the science behind music, causes theres a science behind it,
learn how a track is actually made like, learn to make a melody, a riff you know? how to make a baseline, basslines are fucken important, learn synthesis, eq, how to make an intro, how to use percussion, etc, how to make a pad, chord progressions, etc learn how to use your samples, study the great music out there and your favourite songs, djs, hits, theres a reason why hardwell and armin, tiesto are top of the dj mag

dont make 1 track per day, its not good, you will burn out and quit

the krk's are good monitors man, not too exp and good quality, any midi keyboard is good man, but you have to learn scales and chords to make a melody, thats the most frustrating part

invest in a good headphone so you can do the mixing or arranging at night or on the laptop

it was 12 sorry for the main lead in This is what it feels like, its around the 10min mark, it was awhile i ago i watched that video
armin also says he has used up to 6 layers for a clap, in another you, the track on his latest album, in the above youtube link
benno then says they use a lot of soft synths, but i think armin owns a virus though in his studio i think, armin uses a lot of massive and sylneth, omnisphere i believe

i also remember hearing ilan bluestone doesnt layer his kicks, he just has 1 kick, somewhere in the freshly squeezed interviews

i've noticed that writing in the minor chord works for trance, its all about hitting that right note and you know it when you hear it, i dunno thats what I've noticed....music theory is really important but you have to go beyond that and think outside the box, its complicated haha...
