Really cool ideas but the song is quite imbalanced. The kick is basically invisible with the mix you've got going. Those little clicky percussive samples you have are cool but they are too loud. They are the loudest part of the song in fact. It sounds like the song is drowning in reverb and that it causing a lot of muck. Try and tighten that up and leave more headroom for your kick as well. Keep it up!

pretty cool idea here! It does get a bit repetitive though. Definitely switch up your sounds and add some more break beats in-between. Nice kick and snare. Maybe add some parallel processing to the snare and add a layer with heavy reverb and mix that in subtly to make it bigger.

That lead at 2:04 is DOPE. Definitely use more of that throughout the song. Panning is a little too chaotic with that lead, but the sound is on point.

Keep it up!

Really dope stuff! Cool use of so many different samples. I like all the panning you use for differing percussive elements. Nice low end, snappy kick. Definitely a good use of the stereo field here. One thing worth mentioning is that it becomes a bit tough at time to distinguish which part of the song is the focus. Elements overlap a tad. But honestly that's all I can really say. Really cool track!

Really cool musical ideas in here. I like the mix of those piano chords mixed with the pads floating around. Nice layering going on for sure. Definitely a funky feeling drop. Gets a bit chaotic around 2:20. Maybe just too many clashing frequencies floating around. Good stuff otherwise!

Nice! Mixed pretty well. Definitely some cool ideas here. Like the little break you've got around 2:00. Kick seems to punch through the mix nicely. I dig what you've got here!

Cool ideas you've got here. Those pads that hit around 1:35 sound a bit too much like a preset. Add some more layers in there for sure. I would also try and give your baseline a similar fade effect as those pads. They kind of clash since the side chain compression / volume automation or whatever you're using differs so greatly.

Good stuff, keep it up!

I always enjoy listening to your stuff, especially as it progresses further and further! One thing that came to mind as I listened from the beginning is to make the transitions a bit smoother. What I mean by that is as one example when the big chords come in at 1:00, it feels sudden. I noticed a bit of hi pass leading up to it. Maybe remove 4 kicks before those chords come in, add a bit of a break beat or some sort of cut. Also think about exporting the chords with a ton of reverb on them to get a huge tail, turn it into audio, reverse it, and have it fade in subtly so it doesn't seem to come out of nowhere. Surprise can be a very good tool if it is used right tho!

You definitely have something special with this breakdown. Love the ambiance you've created. Heavy drop. All around dope.

I would maybe try out a different kick sample. It still sounds mucky in the mix. I was just posting earlier on another topic regarding the same idea. Here is what I told them:

"Honestly when it comes to kicks, I never use any compression or layers. I find one sample I love and work with it. Sample selection is always the most important thing when it comes to kicks. Find one that fits. Export your baseline to audio and compare the waveforms. Make sure the tail of the kick is in phase with your baseline. I used to go overboard with layering kicks and adding compression and in the end, picking the right sample will go much further than any of that. "

Definitely like the ideas you've got going. The Mix is a lot quieter than it could be. The kick is veeery weak. try and boost the kick so it hits harder.

As for the above comment, some reverb could go a very long way towards making this feel bigger / louder.

Keep it up!

Any suggestions on making the kick hit harder? I've already put it through some parallel compression / phaser and it's hitting at -1 dB

Super dope. One thing I am noticing is that you may need another low/mid layer in-between your sub and your grinding mids. This song definitely seems to be missing some frequencies around 300hz or so. Also, the kick your using feels a bit Weak to me. I think the low end part is fine but it could definitely be punchier for this kind of track. It sounds a bit mucky and gets a bit lost.

Other than that, good stuff!

Reaallllyyyy dig the breakdown. It is fantastic musically. I would definitely add more to it. More layers. More sounds. Add a melody for a hook and maybe an arpeggiator as well to add some life / depth. The vocals could pop more as well. My biggest suggestion for that would be to look into parallel processing. You can achieve amazing things when you add a few quiet but extreme layers to something like a vocal track. Compress the fuck out of one layer and add in just a little bit of it. Add tons of reverb but fade it in and out to add space. You've got a lot of potential with this on Lydian. Happy to see you making progress with your musical endeavors :)

really good for the first thing you've posted! Cool ideas for sure. But it does sound like whatever limiter / compressor you've got going is working a bit too hard. Create more head room for your drums. Make them louder in the mix before adding limiting/compression to the master. Definitely make the kick the loudest part for a song like this. more effective Side chain compression could help a lot here.

Keep it up!

sounded really clean to me. I'll have to give it another listen on my monitors at home. Kick is quite punchy. Snare layering is on point. Low end seems fairly tight. nice

whooaaaa nice! Really like the ambiance and space you've created here.Very nice stereo width on those pianos and a good use of the rest of the stereo field with all the reverbs floating around.

One thing that kind of threw me off is the snare. I think it sounds too high in pitch. It seems to clash with everything else in the song. But that's probably just my subjective opinion on it. Other than that, really clean mix, punchy kick. Good stuff
