WIPs / Re: Vera - Pure | Opinions wanted :)

The beginning percussion was really cool, it was sudden and started the track off with a bang.

The mixing/mastering work on the percussion isn't super, and I would have chosen different samples for both the hats and snares. They're both very under-processed and don't sound as good as they could be.

The piano underneath is a bit too basic sounding as well in my opinion, though the piano solos themselves are very nice. I think some reverb and mixing work could have worked wonders. I would throw some more in the high-end, and cut the low end out almost completely. A small amount of high-pass filter work would fix this pretty quickly.

I like the feel of the track though, I think your arrangement skills are very good. I would definitely work on sample choices though and some more investment in mixing/mastering/EQ work.

By the way, loooooooove the jazz-influenced minor notes at 3:22. Beeeautiful! :)

First of all, terrifying image.  ;)

The intro really fits it well though. The kick seems to short and high-end oriented for my taste, but it's mixed well. Love the synth work, it has a dark and sinister feel to it, as though I'm approaching a very dark and ominous castle and have to go in to fight some boss or something. Would work really well in a video game.

Keep this track going, would love to hear more!

The piano at the beginning isn't bad, but it seems over-processed and not super "real" you know?

The mixing/mastering on the percussion is solid. I really liked the initial drop into the bass too, it was sudden and had a good vibe to it.

I liked what was initially going on at 1:08, but when the noise cut out it sounded a bit empty. I think maybe some pluck synths would work well there, or perhaps some vocal chops.

At 1:31 there's a lot going on. I like the sidechain work, but there's too much for me to focus on and everything becomes a bit jumbled.

Really like the percussion work throughout, it all sounded solid and sat great in the mix. The high lead was good too, and wasn't repetitive. The track runs together so quickly and doesn't give the listener much time to breathe and process what's going on however. I would like this track at like a festival or something, but sitting down to listen to it in my spare time would almost make me stressed out in a strange way.

Good job though, it sounds professional and thought out.

WIPs / Electronica WIP with a very happy melody

Not 100% sure on where to go with this one yet, but would love to hear what others thought so far.
It's pretty different from what I normally do, and can't really define what genre it is.
It's cute and fun though, so I figured I'd throw it up.

All feedback is welcome and appreciated. <3

Finished Tracks / Re: Dimensions (Original mix)

Boy those kicks hit hard and are mixed perfectly. I love how minimal it is, and the shaking hats really add some great atmosphere along with the bass.

I do think some vocals would do this track well, maybe even some high-end chorus/choir arrangements/sections. It would fit the mood of the track and add another layer of depth to kick things up a notch.

In all honesty, I don't love the synth that gets introduced carrying the main melody/chords. It sounds like it's not quite refined yet, and needs a little something more in my opinion. It sounds very flat, and has a large presence in the mix that takes away from some of the other elements.

Incredible track in terms of mixing/mastering. I loved the minimal vibe at the beginning, but I think it changed when the new melody was brought in. It just seems to be missing something more - maybe an arp synth over the top, or some vocals, I'm not sure. But it's definitely on the right track. I would say if you're going to stick with a minimal vibe I would take out the main chords, but if you're gonna head in the more 'house' direction I'd add some more elements.

Would love to hear the full version when you're finished!!

I like how the track begins, it could be used well in a number of sets/mixes. The panning is good too on the FX, and I love the little claps at 0:35.

The kicks need to be tuned I think. They hit a different note than the rest of the track which makes them sound a bit "off". I liked the FX at the beginning, but I think it should've gone away once the drop ensued. Now that I'm continuing though, they dissipate by 1:40. The kicks get lost in the mix a bit too, it's very hard to distinguish them from the rest of the track.

The pad work is great. I love all the layers, it's very atmospheric. I would've tried to obtain a wider sound however, it seems like some filters are preventing that.

The minimal feel of this track though is phenomenal, it really reminds me of some mid-to-late-2000s atmospheric trance and I really dig it. Wish there were more producers still interested in this style. I think with some more mixing/mastering work this could be an awesome track. A lot of the sounds didn't quite seemed as refined as they should be, and I think some EQing and mixing could solve those issues.

Very interesting choice of sounds at 4:47. I really like the industrial feel to it, though I definitely would have sidechained the high lead. It just sits there in the mix and doesn't do much. Some sidechaining with the kick drum would have given it some better presence. The kicks are all but completely lost in this section too, in addition to most of the low end.

Love all of the elements and layers in this track though, and the feel it brings is great. Not a bad job!  :)

An ambient track that's simple, but has layers and synths that build as the song progresses.

I did my best to simulate the rising of the sun, ending just as it crests over the horizon.

All comments and criticisms are welcome and appreciated.

Hope you guys and gals enjoy <3

I don't love the beginning, it's a bit too future for me. That's just not really my style though, it's pretty subjective.

I love the vocal work, the reverb on it is really nice. Once the beginning melody comes back in too, they fit really well together actually. It's cool how by itself I don't love the intro but coupled with the lyrics and some other synth work it really comes together!

The percussion work at 0:57 is incredible. The samples are really crisp, and it builds up perfectly. The cymbal at 1:08 sounds stretched, you might want to tweak the EQ's and filters on that to get it sounding more natural.

Holy cow, did NOT expect that heavy drop. Gives the track a whole different feel. I like the bass that's coupled with the kicks, though it's just a tad fast in my opinion. I think the synth that starts at 1:15 could use some more high end and maybe even a high pass filter, something to give it a little bit more life.

I like that intro melody again paired with the beat. And when the vocals come in, yes pleeeeease.

I LOVE how unique this track is, it's super different yet awesome. It keeps you guessing. I'd keep going on this track, with some more length and maybe another break or something, this could be a stellar piece of work.

I have to second what Voyali said, I think a little bit of one-shots here and there mixed into the backgroud with some reverb/delay would really help make the beginning more interesting. Also I think when the bass comes in around 50 seconds it could be mixed louder. Other than that it sounds great and I really love the way it evolves!

Cool beans, thanks for the feedback! :)

I forgot to mention that this would work great on an Album or EP and that you should totally use it in one if you're working on one.

Thank you! I'm thinking right now that I'll just release it for a dollar or two and sell the rights to anyone who wants to use it for any reason (independent films, video games, YouTube videos, etc.), but I'll still think about it!

First off I wanna say I really like the artwork haha.

I really really like this. One thing I must say is that it is very repetitive, and that's coming form someone who loves this type of music. At some instances it's very hard to hear the music evolve or add anything over time.

I feel like what this track is missing is just some random "One-Shots" going on throughout. Maybe every now and then just throw in a really reverberated snare, maybe some clicks panned slightly to a side, maybe some crazy vibrato - reverb synth. Just most stuff to listen to occasionally then just the one continuous melody, which is still really nice I must say. Vocals would be nice like you're suggesting.

What would make this track totally do it for me is if towards the end it got REALLY really big, with like an acoustic drum groove going on with wood blocks and stuff. I really like this though and I'm interested in how you take it!

Thank you very much for all your feedback. :)

I do agree, some one-shots are definitely needed. As far as the acoustic drum groove you were talking about, I was planning on not using any percussion at all in this track, however I do realize now that I need to make it grow even bigger - all of the synths used still have some frequency and filter room to expand.

I'm glad you like the artwork too, I think I'll go ahead and use it!

UPDATE: I think I may have this track all wrapped up. All comments/criticisms are welcome and encouraged, I'd love for folks to tear this track apart.

Original post: An ambient track that I just started on Wednesday (January 13th). It's relatively simple, each element starts very quiet and it builds and builds to the very end. I may use it for the first track of an EP, or I may just release it as a single.

I'm looking for what else to add to it - I'm already starting to write and think about some whispering vocals or female-register soundscape vocals, but other than that any ideas are welcome. Mixing and mastering has NOT been done either.

As always, all criticisms and comments are welcome and appreciated, be as honest as you can.
