WIPs / Re: Unoriginal trap song
« on: May 05, 2016, 07:09:02 pm »
Guitar in a trap track? Very unique, and could work and sound really good! I love your snap samples, with the slight reverb they're really strong. I love the snare hits when the drop comes in as well.

When the drop does come though, I would definitely take that bass down one more octave. It's not quite low enough to get the trap feel you're going for. I don't think the guitar works incredibly well here either...I think it needs to be processed quite a bit more. I would throw a lot of filters on it to give it a more eerie feel, and I would add quite a bit of reverb as well.

Same thing goes for the wind instrument that comes in at the second drop. The toms in the background aren't bad either, but I can barely hear them and they don't add much to the mix.

Not bad mate, work on processing those elements more and keep messing around with the bass to get the trap feel that you're going for!

Really like the dreaminess of the intro, though the synths and samples used seem underprocessed to me. Like there are good things going on, but not enough EQ, reverb, or other effects are used.

I would love to hear some bass at 0:37. I really like the break into the heavier dreamy section, however with some lows and low/mids, it would really be impactful. I think a sub bass would do especially well here.

Oh wow, I love your percussion work at 0:55. All the samples are very crisp and clean and fit very well with the rest of the mix.

Like i said, I love the dreamy vibe you have here. Keep going with this, it has definite promise!

Very nice little...harp? Is that a harp? At the beginning. It works reallyl well with the little percussion fills in the background and they are mixed well together.

Very nice lush synth that comes in as well. Very different from what I was expecting to hear, but I really like it. All of the synths pair nicely together actually, but I do feel like something is still slightly missing. I think some more low/mid range would do this track justice, and in fact just a bit more bass too. Everything sounds really well mixed and mastered though so I wouldn't change anything there. I'm usually a big stickler on snares too so nice job!

Keep this one going please. I'd love to hear it when it's all finished up!

The synth and FX work in the intro are great, sounds very professional. I love the brooding swell at 0:29/0:30 as well, it's very sinister and carries a lot of weight in the mix.

The bass is mixed well when it comes in with the triplets. I would work on the timbre with your little blips like the one at 1:13 though, give them some more natural sound like hitting a wood block. I really like the sidechain work with the vocals, and they're mixed very well.

It's a really beautiful track so far man! I love how it has the elements of psytrance, techno and big room all at the same time, they all work well together in the mix. Definitely keep going with this one!!

WIPs / Re: KLANG | Illenium Remix | Feedback wanted :)

Excellent synth work right off the bat. The vocals are mixed really well as well, and sit perfectly in the mix with a good amount of reverb. I think the snare's a bit too heavy and long for my taste, but I just prefer short attacking snares with a lot of 'pop'.

Everything up to the drop is super solid and sounds extremely professional. When the drop comes in however, I'd love there to be some more high hat work, and the main melody is a little...boring to be honest. I think it could be turned down a bit as well. The snare I still don't love either. Like I said earlier though, mixing and mastering still super solid.

Really nice remix man. I'm currently setting up an account through Wavo cuz this looks like a really awesome site, and I'll vote for yours when I get the chance! Good luck! :)

I like the synth at the beginning, but I think there might be too much reverb on everything.

Oh wow that bass comes in hard. Is it stereo? If so I'd definitely put all of it in the middle of the mix and leave it as tight as possible - panning and bass doesn't mix well. The lyrics aren't bad either, but they don't stand out very much in the mix.

Nice drop, especially starting at 1:16. I still think there's too much reverb going on, but it's hard as can be and is mastered pretty solidly.

I'd maybe lay off using the synth throughout the entire track and leaving the percussion off in parts to let the track breathe a bit, but what you have so far is really hard and I like it. Keep running with this one for sure.

WIPs / Re: Track I've been working on
« on: May 03, 2016, 12:06:43 am »
I like vocal samples quite a bit, though I'd drop even more reverb on them to really let them fill up the space in the mix. I have almost nothing to say about the rest of the buildup to 0:47 though, aside from maybe bringing out the percussion some more than it already is.

I like the synth melody over top in the drop, but there isn't a lot else going on. With just one or two more elements such as really high-end bells it could be an amazing drop section. On that note, I would actually just boost the high end on the master EQ to the whole track. I'm definitely left wanting more in the high regions as the track progresses. The bass and mids are nice, but they don't quite fill the whole space.

Pretty sick though so far man, keep it up! Could turn into a really sweet track!!

Cool little synth intro, and I like the laugh sample. I would actually take out that hit immediately following though, I think just the first elements are enough.

I like the kick and snares, though I'm going to be nitpicky - I wish the kick was louder, and the snares have just a touch too much reverb right when they come in. As other elements are added it's just fine, but maybe gradually build it up instead of just dropping it right in.

Holy cow I love the melody, especially when it really comes out at 0:42. What synthesizer did you use for that lead? It's really really well done. And when the bass comes in...man this track is really nice.

The drop at 1:30 is cool, but some of the effects seem overprocessed. One synth in particular that comes in at 1:33 has way too much reverb on it, and drowns out the other elements.

Really great ideas and elements so far though man. I'd like to hear some more low/mid range, but I love the Mario samples and the general vibe to this track is great.

WIPs / Re: Ginzburg | Bigroom? Probably just house
« on: May 01, 2016, 07:40:41 pm »
The percussion work at the beginning is cool, and sets a good tone.

I really like how unique the synths are in this track - they're pretty basic but they work really well together and are very crisp. It gives the track a really minimal/eerie feel.

The drop at 1:36 is a good idea, however I don't think the melody fits very much with the first section of the track. If you're going for a more bigroom feel, I would also kick up the BPM a bit. Definitely bring out the lead more though by making each note longer and adding some more reverb. I would also look into more bass and a different kick sample as well - both are essential elements to a good bigroom track.

I do like the melodies though, despite the fact that I don't think they coincide very well together. Definitely keep working on this one though, it's not too shabby so far!

Holy cow man, those kicks are gorgeous. Great sidechaining as well, and solid synth backup. I wish the vocals had some more reverb though.

When the snare comes in at 0:30 I'm left wanting a little more. I would perhaps shorten up the sample (lower the 'out') and bring the volume up some as well. The percussion other than that sounds really good though.

The guitar that starts at 1:15 is pretty nice and a good idea, but I wish it was processed a little more. Adding some reverb and delay to that sound plus some more high end would do wonders. Also when the hat comes in at 1:45 I'm not sure if I like that much panning to the left. Since not much else is going on right there, I think a hat placed right in the middle would work better.

The drop at 3:00 is kinda underwhelming. I would definitely take out the rides on every beat, and give the lead some more depth and reverb. There just seems to be something missing in the low/mid range as well. I think a heavier pad right here would do wonders.

Oooooo, I do not like the snare-type sample that starts at 4:30. It doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the percussion to me, and sounds a little too off-beat for my taste. I understand the want for syncopation and varying snare timing for more vibe, but I think it's a hair overdone here.

Really really nice work so far on this though, it sounds super professional. Almost forgot to mention by the way that I really like the bass work - it fits really nicely.

You should let me know when the full track's done, I'd love to hear the finished product.  :)

I really like the intro sounds, though I'd widen them a bit. The snare is pretty good that you have, I'd maybe add a touch more reverb though.

WOW, I was NOT expecting that change at 0:37, but I really like it! I think it may need more mid section like an additional pad in there to fill the space, but it's a really cool idea! For example, when those gorgeous arps come in at 0:49, there's nothing accompanying them to give the track more flow...do you know what I mean?

Here, I'll give you an example. In Kasbo's track "Kaleidoscope", the arp in the main drop has enough accompanying it and it acts as a means to fill space as well, as opposed to an outright lead. Here's the track for reference, the arp I'm referring to comes in at 1:40:
Other than that, I agree with carlitoNthecokefactory - the lead is a bit too loud and drowns out the kicks, but it's a solid track so far! :)

WIPs / [Synthwave] Unmixed/Unmastered - SHIKIMO

Just a WIP so far obviously, but definitely looking for other things to add to this track.

Any and all comments/criticisms are welcome and encouraged.

I wouldn't have started the track with the vocal samples, they get pretty repetitive quickly. I don't love the percussion when it comes in either, the snare has too much mid range. Pretty solid buildup though.

The drop is definitely where this remix shines, wow it is hard. I love the variation in synths that you used, and all samples are well done. Not a single thing I would change with it actually, with either of them now that I've listened to the second.

I don't love the parts outside of the drops, but that section definitely makes this track. Nice work, man!!

Oh man, really love the intro with the light synths and bass. The atmosphere it creates is really awesome.

Tooooooo much high pass filter on the vocals. If they were just straight up, it would sound incredible. This could've been unavoidable due to ripping the vocals though. I like the unique and slightly different chord progression you used as well, it's fitting and really nice.

Not bad on the main section. I wish the buildup would've had a little more to it, but it doesn't take anything away from the vibe. I think the percussion elements may be a bit too loud in this section as well, but I love the synth work.

Solid remix man, nice work! Too bad Soundcloud took it down!

Finished Tracks / Re: Bass House Track

Mixing sounds pretty good, I would like the hat that's on 2 & 4 to be a little tighter though. The synth that follows the beginning is really nice, and well compressed and mixed.

Little too much reverb on the rolling snare during the buildup - it begins to drown out some of the other elements. I like the drop, but try putting some more attack on that bass.

LOVE the little flair at 1:29.

Pretty sweet track man, nice job!
