I forget where I read this Gain Structure guide, but I think it may have been ADSR Courses or some other YouTube tutorial

Volume
a.   Kick = -9dB
b.   Vocal = -12dB
c.   Leads = -15dB
d.   Bass = -18dB

Importance is tricky; It isn't necessary to have the kick in key, but it may improve your harmonics.

Let's say you find the "perfect" kick for your track.. but it's not in key. Could you use it anyways? Yes of course. Rather than searching for a near identical kick drum that is in the key you are looking for, you could take the route of tuning the kick drum to the key of your track.

There is an excellent ADSR Course video on how to do this, which is the video I suggest you watch.

Sound Design / Re: CHALLENGE #2
« on: January 14, 2016, 03:14:32 pm »
I will try to replicate it with words since I dont have a daw at hand:
- Sounds like a glassy Wavetable that is ever so slightly detuned
- That is sent into a soft Low pass filter that sounds like its modded by an LFO
- then it sounds like it is being distorted by pre gain through a Guitar amp plugin, which also is probably providing the cabinet impulse response there seems to be that is coloring the sound greatly and adding a little bit of tail
- Also a little bit of glide? or drawn in pitch bend

Damn. That was impressive.

Wish i was able to do that  :-\

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: FL Studio CPU/Soundcard Issues
« on: January 14, 2016, 03:07:01 pm »
I don't have a solution to your issue (sorry), but my two cents is be careful when using ASIO4ALL. I had similar issues where my track would not buffer and I would have terrible crackles when playing my track, so I did all the latency and other bs solution stuff.

Someone suggested switching to ASIO, and sure enough it fixed the problem... until I had a new problem. Everything sounded different.  Way. Fucking. Different.

My first questions were, what the hell will my song sound like when played somewhere else? How the hell can I EQ and mix if I don't know which sound is correct?

I have a pair of G3 KRK Rokit 5's, and I have no complaints with them so far.

They get the job done

im hoping they fixed alot of the amplifier issues they had with the G2's but i think i should probably get something other than rokits. the HS8 seem pretty solid.

Not too sure on the issues the G2 had, but I'm glad I haven't had any issues eith my G3's.

HS8 are excellent, I've checked out several reviews of them and strongly considered them over my KRK's at first

This is excellent thank you

Well, we could use some track to see if it's worth it ?

It's free - send him your track and find out if you like the results or not :P

This may help you understand the differences between each measurement.

I'll include the link to the forum thread if you want to read other responses too, but the picture below is pretty solid

Which DAW do you use?

If you're using FL Studio, their Parametric EQ2 and Limiter are pretty awesome - and of course, free within your DAW.

MakJ (good back story), Riggi & Piros, Zaxx, Kayliox, Thomas Hayden, Olly James, Twiig, Zack Martino, Jaylex, Alessandro Kraus, Reggio, Malik Bash, Mesto.

Why? They're all young producers who fucking work hard every single day for their dream.

Yeah, I like the music Blasterjaxx, W&W, Laidback Luke, Alvaro, Showtek, Fedde, Bingo Players, etc. all make.. but the guys I listed first, they really inspire me.

Whether they're young producers like I am, local producers, whatever. I watch them in the studio, see how they express their dreams and work at it.

At the end of the day, I can be proud of the music I make. That's why I do this.

Sound Design / Re: Synth Secrets - The theory behind sound synthesis
« on: January 11, 2016, 03:51:39 pm »
Understanding your synth and how to manipulate every single parameter to get the sound you want is essential, and extremely under-rated and overlooked.

Many people don't really take the time to learn the ins and outs of every knob, button, effect and so forth that their synth provides.

Example: Turning 'retrig' on for a single oscillator may change your sound

ADSR masterclasses (and all their tutorials in general) are some of the most informative, and important, tutorials I've ever watched
