they're not on the same key ?
+ i didn't know how it sounded like, but maybe it was your 808 and sub that got clashed

yes ! healthy body is a healthy mind~

Casey Neistat is the guy that changed the way i look at creative field. a vlog titled "Fat and Lazy" made me realized that all the time i've spent making songs aren't really that well spent. i wasn't spending it "well". it was damn good

Honestly though, discipline is so much more important than inspiration.

this this this i like this~

have a deadline ! i like to think as starting a project as working a school paper or something that's totally strict. + i have a certain goal i want to achieve (this is the genre, tempo, scale blabla). it makes things a lot clearer when you have a deadline. def not going to make me creative but at least it got me doing something instead of watching movies/listening to songs/reading books~

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: What/Who inspired you to start?

so so so lowly, but David Guetta got me into EDM. moved from commercial dance to trance, then progressive house (deadmau5 like, not that "progressive house"), got into electro house, introduced to porter robinson (it was just after the avicii remix) then it all kind of centered around porter as my main inspiration. the guy's too good

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: 32bit vs. 64bit
« on: January 07, 2016, 01:54:45 pm »
If your software is 64 bit, then it will take better advantage of a modern CPU and can address a lot more memory.  However, 32 bit VSTs won't work in a 64 bit host.  So, you either gotta use somethin' like jBridge to wrap your 32 bit VSTs (which is a bit flakey, we're discussing this in another thread), or you just don't use the VST.

32 bit is dying tech, so it's only a matter of time... and chances are, we're not going to bother with 128 bit for a real long time, so we're going to be on 64 bit for a long while.

i thought it was the other way around (64 can't run on 32), just realized it now that i was wrong hahaha
there are a few lovely vst that only runs in 32 though :(

Sound Design / Re: Pad Design Thread
« on: January 07, 2016, 01:44:01 pm »
Paulstretch and Valhalla Shimmer are my go-to methods for making cool ambient pads!
What does Paulstretch do? Can you elaborate on that? I've never heard of that synth before :0

Not really a synth, but more of an extreme time stretcher. You could basically insert a 10 seconds audio file and stretch it into something like 10 minutes or so. You can imagine that it can make some pretty dope ambient/pad texture depending on the kind of audio material you give it to eat. And it's free (Donationware actually) for Windows, Linux & OSX !

Otherwise, I find that granular processing (which is pretty much similar to time stretching anyway...) can lead to very cool pad sounds with pretty much everything. Just a matter of trying different things out and finding what you like and where to use it. Reverb is another thing that can turn pretty  much anything into an instant pad.

+ it doesn't sound like FL's timestretcher hahaha
(youtube it and you'll see how good dat is)

in your page, every song you embedded says "sorry we can't find this track" or sumtin like that

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Finding a key to write in
« on: January 07, 2016, 05:23:58 am »
I usually plan the concept of the song in my head like roughly would it be a Chill Song/Heavy Bass/Party/Mood Swing and then accordingly decide the key.To sum it up,I think what vibes people should get while listening to the song and accordingly plan the key.

yea ! start with the feels first, the chord progression comes later. pretty sure there's a talk about this somewhere in another forum (if i couldn't get anymore detailed). just google it. or use https://www.hooktheory.com/theorytab
