1. tom/hat/rendered pluck through a granular synth, then done like that SHM song
2. crash reverbed, rendered, add another reverb on that rendered. then something like eq automation+stereo imager
3. just a square/saw pitched hehe

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Repetition: How Much is Too Much?
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:14:50 pm »
oh btw, too much repetition is when a part (either rhythm/chord prog/melody) is somehow repeated throughout the track. that's true repetition. no matter how subtle
imo imo

depends on my current feelings haha

usually if it's not sad, then powerful (like angry), or fun/happy (both are quite similiar)

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: How to get a good mac for less
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:09:52 pm »
Didn´t know where to put this but here goes.
I got my first macbook pro 5 years ago. As everybody knows it´s expensive if you want to get some good specs.  When I got into producing 2 years ago, the mac was not so good to use, since it only had 4gb RAM.  The max for this model was 8gb, but when Mavericks OS X was introduced, I was suddenly able to put 16gb into it.  The cost of the RAM upgrade was only about 100 USD, and while I was at it, I put in a new ssd/combined HDD(WD Black2 dual drive) for an additional 150.  So then I had an upgraded machine w/ 120gb ssd + 1TB regular HDD for samples etc. and 16gb of RAM for just  250(+ cost of the mac).  You check if it is doable on any mac on http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade.

Hope this made some sense, as I am being very incoherent in my writing lately.

Hackintoshing is a good idea as well.

expensive expensive ??

No matter what your using to monitor your mix as long as you have a decent
grasp on your frequency ranges and a good ear for the kind of balance
your looking for in your mix I think you'll be ok.
I'd definitely say that a pair of both headphones and monitors is a must.
I have to do the headphone, earbud, laptop, car, and monitor test before I can say thats a wrap.

everyone got a car test huh....i know why but...
what earbud you use ? i got one but it's a cheap $8 running lmao

fl's newtone. it's kinda fucked up with atonal sounds, but it's obviously fast to work with (like any fl stuff)
basically just to see it on newtone, then manual pitching on my individual sounds (i dont really like short sounds to be pitched inside newtone. it's good for singing but nah)

GET AN AUDIO INTERFACE.
All you really need is an interface.

I'm gonna add to this, any decent PC with enough of RAM and a great audio interface will do wonders for you.

I've been working on the same mid-2012 macbook 13" and only just recently upgraded my ram and hard drive a few months ago from 4GB to 8GB and I've almost never had a project crash on me since then. If you have a decent interface to do all the thinking for your audio apart from just your PC will help a lot too. This is just my experience. Most of my VSTs are very CPU/RAM hungry..

The interface part is really important though.
Can you guys suggest an Audio Interface for me?

+1 for NI Transient Master - it sounds great, and I love the simplicity of the UI.

Before I had Komplete I used Flux BitterSweet which is freeware, sounds fine, costs no money, will have no negative impact on your bank balance, and is freeware.

bittersweet's better than transient master imo. but the gui really helps you work faster :P

It's better yes. It's recommended to have some while going to festival, shows or anywhere there will a lot of noise.

Although, there is a way to create earplug that fit your ears and will be better. I don't really know where in netherland but if you search, you'll probably find it. It will be better because you'll have a 100% efficiency with it that a random earplug won't give you. Although, those look nice. ;)

ear treatment centre got those stuff. its a bit more expensive so be prepared. also useful for sleeping on airplanes or during camp

ozone's really powerful if you know how to use it (not that im saying you dont)
try to read the manual they gave out. it's really easy to understand + it's fun to just basically learn anything about producing~
some ppl just master using a multiband compressor+limiter so maybe learn ozone, then try to figure it out from there

good luck~

I just select both WAV and MP3 in the render settings on FL Studio. Usually does a good job at it.
At the same time o_O or you mean rendering first wav, then mp3?
FL Studio actually has the ability to render both at the same time, yes.

Oh gosh, discovered this aspect from you just now after years of using, lol. this is pretty useful, thanks  :)

hahahaha omg me too. how do they do it ? one by one or simultaneously but slower ?
