producing = problem solving

look at the presets man and try and study them, theres lots of trance lead presets

and i think you should focus sound design on 1 synth at the moment and move on when you get better

focusing on shit that doesnt bring the end result

i would focus on melody making and synthesis cause thats the bulk of the song

and working hard under proper theory

but really, in the end we're all novices

when your tracks are as good or even better as the stuff being released, you can start to send your shit out

10 months of producing isn't long enough man, it takes several years of study to get at least decent

cause you need to train the creative brain to get melodies out, and then synthesis, which takes ages and then all that other stuff, EQing, etc,

you need both proper theory and prac to get better, and intensity each time you produce

i remember my first 10 months, all my tracks were total shit, and i was upset, but if you want to get better, you have to do serious study

just keep going and stay motivated

To be fair, he's not a musician in the sense that he writes songs. If you look into his composition process, he is actually much more of a producer - and not specifically in the sense that we are, but that plays a role. There's a story of how the score for Superman was composed where Zimmer walks over to a piano, plays two notes in a particular rhythm, then looks to his team of orchestrators and says "go write a score." He's the creative vision and oversees the production process, but he's a computer programmer with little to no knowledge of music theory (which explains his focus on the frequency response of sounds).

i read somewhere hans zimmer is more of a businessman than a producer, he has an army working for him
hans works really hard though and knows whats good, kinda like tiesto i think
