Hey thanks for the reply!! I really appreciate the feedback :) As far as the bit crushing goes, I use Propellerheads Reason and they have a wonderful distortion plugin called Scream 4. I'll apply it to an entire channel such as my lead bus, bypass it, then automate the bypass to turn it on for a little break like that and then automate a few of the parameters to get that crushing effect. I am sure a very similar effect could be had using the same method on other plugins!

This is my first post in a while. I have been writing an EP that will soon be released and have had to keep those songs private. Here is my newest project 'Something About You'

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and feedback as to how I did and if there is anything that could be improved.

Cheers

Sup man, just wanted to say I really enjoyed your track.
The echoey feel + your chords sort of resemble epic music and I think that's pretty cool in electronic stuff.
Tips would be to maybe change up your chords every now and then, and maybe even modulate, otherwise I thought it was very nice :D good job
Also you posted it under the genre Dance, which I think might need reciting.

I really appreciate that feedback :) And yeah, I realize that chord progression became a bit repetitive. Since I've never played an instrument and have 0 understanding of music theory, I sometimes have trouble "progressing" through a song.

Finished Tracks / KLANG | Don't Look Back | Very Emotional New Song
« on: March 21, 2016, 06:08:07 pm »
This is my new song 'Don't Look Back.' When I hear listen, it reminds me of how far I have come in life and how I have all of my accomplishments have been made by looking forwards rather than backwards. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Feedback : What could I have done better or what do you like about it? Arrangement/mixing/musical feedback is very much appreciated here!!

pretty cool ideas you've got here! It is definitely mixed well with what you've got going on. That being said, I think it could use some more layers. It feels a bit thin to me. I think that main lead feels a bit pre-set ish to me, if you know what I mean. I think it is a little too simple to be the "Main" sound in your song.

Keep up the good work dude!

definitely a cool start. A few things I noticed:

-I'd get a different kick sample. It doesn't seem to fit. But that could just be my ears.
-I think you need some more frequencies in the low mid area. Maybe another bass layer or low pad to fill out the sound.
-The low end could use a bit of control. Kinda tough at times to tell what's going on down there.
-it feels a bit narrow. I think it could definitely use more stereo width.

Musically I really enjoyed it! I think it could use some work in the mix category but it's dope!

Dope track! One big suggesting I would give to you it that is needs more width. That main synth feels like it is centered directly mono in the middle and I think adding some delay/reverb and stereo width would go a loooong way here!

Defo a cool, chill one. Keep it up!

on the treatment: Really cool ideas you have. That baseline is dope but it could be grungier and bigger! Overall I would say the track could use some more stereo width. The kick also gets lost in the mix. Partially because it isn't punchy enough. Also because you have a lot of chaos going on in the low end of the track. And sub on your kick gets munched by all the low end energy down there.

Cool ideas, keep up the good work!

Nice! Hits nice and hard. It could definitely use some more sub tho. (from my ears perspective at least :)

I would maybe even add another layer of low mids to fill out the sound a bit. It seems like there is a gap in-between mids and lows.

Keep it up!

Definitely some cool ideas here! One suggestion I would make: Try not to let the break get soooooo quiet. Dynamic range is a good thing but it felt like it needed to be turned up right when the break hit. Maybe increase the volume on the pad.

It also feels very narrow. Try adding some more stereo width to some of the elements. It definitely could use some more layers over all to make it feel "bigger."

Awesome start, keep it up!

Nice! Mixed pretty well, it does bang indeed. I would suggest maybe adding another layer to your snare. Something with a little high end and grit. But just a subjective opinion of course.

Not necessarily my favorite style of music but I like what you have here!
