Finished Tracks / Odd One - NEATO
« on: July 03, 2018, 04:58:21 am »
Hey y'all. Been a long time since I've posted or shared any music. I came back with a permanent alias and had my 1st release last Friday. It's a single off my upcoming debut EP which will be released on all platforms!

https://soundcloud.com/oddonetunes/sets/neato

Hope you enjoy my eclectic but listenable style.

Compliments, critiques, and things you disliked are all welcome! Any feedback is good feedback. Either leave a comment on the track, or reply here!

Thanks,

Here's a nice lil wipparoo.

enjoy. still lots of elements to add.

NOTE:
This is without any mix/master. I know how to do it well, hence why even this doesn't sound like a half bad pre-mix. ;)

Enjoy!  :-[

Very cool idea! I especially liked that first "drop". My only problem I have with it is the pause at 1:23 seems a little too long. But other than that, I really dig it so far and I'm looking forward to the finished product!

The pause at 1:23 is more of a trance inspired element. A stylistic choice. It's not a bad one, it just could use some more flavor over that time to not make it feel like nothing is going on. Move more transients, make it a more gradual climb, etc.

Track is pretty good on a production level, well done! Is there anything specifically you were looking for feedback with?

As usual, let me know what you guys think in terms of styling!
Oh, also fuck Soundcloud and their disgusting quality drop. Here's a drive link. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8Fx-ywbHenmWlR4VHpId0FIN1k

Sound Design / Question for Serum
« on: May 12, 2017, 04:05:19 pm »
Does anybody know if there's a way to make the noise osc bypass the fx rack entirely? Like the sub osc has the direct out, i'm just curious if there's a way to get that with the noise.

Been using serum for a hot minute now so I doubt that there is, but you never know!

Cheers

Don't just lowcut. It's not just lowcut. It's bandpassed upwards of around 120hz and then cut later to help give it that deep pluckiness. Try using 2 filters to create that effect.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Vocal Acapellas
« on: May 07, 2017, 06:28:57 pm »
Hey guys

Just wondering how you guys get acapellas for songs. What websites do you use? Illegal or legal? I'm not looking to officially release songs with these vocals so I don't care about the legitimacy of the dl.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Cheers

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Analog Synths and USB Midi
« on: April 30, 2017, 09:30:54 pm »
Hey Guys! I grew up playing piano and keyboards my entire life and have been producing now for a number of years but for some odd reason never bought a midi keyboard. Now I'm running a Minilogue and I'm just completely lost in the world of MIDI and I'm just looking for some general questions to be answers and maybe some pointers on interfaces or midi-usb devices to grab up.

1: Would a simple midi-usb device transfer live audio too? Or would that only be possible via a midi dump?
2: What's the best way to get a clean playable sound into a DAW from hardware?
3: Would it be best to get a pre-amp that has midi in that and then run that into my pc? Or would it be best to use 1/4 and adapt it to 1/8 inch into my pc?
4: Are there are pre-amps or interfaces that would allow for midi and 1/4 inch IN and then a 1/8 OUT to my pc?

Even if you can only answer 1 question or clarify any confusions I have, that would be great!

Thanks guys!

Cheers

Just experimenting with some new styles and spaces. Brand new experience and area for me. Lemme know if you like how your ears received it and if it's worth continuing!

You can definitely hear the vocode and the phase. Also sounds like some fm on it too.

Sound Design / Distortion

Hey all

Anyone have any good distortion vsts to recommend? I'm specifically looking for something that simulates an overdrive pedal, but am always happy with other phat distorts.

Cheers

Hey guys!

I got a couple different projects I'm working on, but I'm wanting to get some other people to work with on them. Not really much of a collaborater, but I'd like to change that a bit.

If you like any of the projects lmk and I can hit you up with the stems. Just let me know!

Cheers

Mastering is the final touch on the cake, get good at mixing first. Most mixing can be done with sidechains, compression, and eq. Really easy. You just gotta learn the techniques! Can't stress enough how important knowing how to mix is.

Better drum samples and dynamics of samples along with a good mixdown would make this track go a long ways! How your track sounds is equally as important as composition!

Pretty damn rare that a track will give me chills. This is sick AND original dude. Keep at it. Could be a foot in the door.

No critiques. Track has hella dynamics and uses the space well.

Great shit.
