this song is fucking awesome xD
Do you actually do the sound design?

Awesome man, really appreciate you saying that!!!  I am not currently doing the sound design other than a few tweaks here and there to mix in better, these are all Cymatics based.

2
Both fills that say this is my house sounded kinda low in the mix the second one you can hear the snare more and at 1:00 idk what's going on with that fill idk if thats a big deal

I also wasn't feeling the detuned layers at like 1:10 but that might just be me

I love the song tho you need to definitely keep it up

Thanks for the specific feedback dude, this is all really helpful!    Really appreciate your kind words too and so happy you are digging the song :)

Future bass?

This is pretty cool man, I like your concept and thought you did a great job of that general future bass sound/vibe.  For critique, I think your mix in general would benefit a lot from adding (or increasing) your kick and snare sidechain so that they are much more audible through the rest of the layers in the mix.  If you listen to the kick during the section around :15 you can hear it coming through full force, but when the drop hits the kicks/snare sounds like it is getting a bit drowned out from the bass and synth layers and a bit hard to hear and feel come through.  Also, if your kick isn't already in mono that would likely help it push through too!

Keep it up man :)

yea i just checked i only had a few things sidechained so i sidechained all of the elements in the drop also to the snare and they do cut through more thanks!

You got it man, glad it helped!  Would love to hear your thoughts on a new track that I just finished if you're able to check out, it's a few posts down

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I was last on here however, I wanted to share my newest song with you all.  Hope you enjoy it!

This is beautiful man!  I'm completely blown away by your sound design as well, especially the higher frequencies!  I'm in love with your pluck in the intro and if you don't mind sharing would love to know how you achieved that almost percussion style sound that is giving the plucks that "tock" sound and adding additional texture to it.

For critique, perspective and opinion is a funny thing because I thought the vocals were great and the intro section really resonated with me and set up the mood for your vibe.  While I thought the intro vocal section was perfect, my only other thought would be to consider shortening the additional vocal sections after that so that they act as a very quick switch up in the song instead of entire sections, which may help the energy flow and general arrangement.

Incredible work on this, looking forward to hearing more of your music :)

Hey guys, I did a remix of Genghis Khan by Miike Snow and wanted to share it to you guys.
Let me know what you think about the track.

This is really good man, I really enjoyed listening to this from start to finish!  It took me a bit to come up with critique on this because it all sounds so clean and well done to me.  I really enjoy that breakdown that you start at around :40.  I love it how it is, but I would have really loved to hear some kind of percussion element continuing to play to help preserve the groove and then help transition back into the full bass section around 1:14.  Additionally, may be personal preference but would have also enjoyed hearing some type of effect/automation over that break to help slowly build the energy up back again to the drop.

Great job on this man! :)

I think your sounds a very well balanced homie. Especially loved that clap and the hats. I think the snare during the buildups is a little to boxy for my taste it kind of sticks out in the mix. But the overall vibe really brought me back to old house days <3

Thanks so much for the love!  Really appreciate your feedback on the snares too, very helpful for me :)

So I made this track last night experimenting with some new sound design. Really got me in a mau5y type of mood. I'd love any feedback on this! It's very different from what I'd typically release as part of my brand but I still love this type of house.

This is really cool man, can definitely hear the mau5 influence in this one!  Loving the general vibe and melody throughout.    To really get that mau5 vibe going in full force, I would consider creating a much heavier (and maybe dirty?) style bassline and have that be the focus and main driver of the song.  This mau5 song below is a bit of a different style than yours but is a great example of a heavy bassline that compliments the softer brighter synths in my opinion :)

Thanks man!

Yeah, I'll definitely look into that switch. I want to keep that wobbly low-lead sound, but there is a lot of tonal stuff happening in that background glitch layer that might be just off. I'll take care of that.

After that some sweep or swoosh here or there might be missing, but other than that, after so many kind words, I think thisone might be close to being ready for the world out there. :)

Thanks a lot for giving it a listen! :)

Of course dude, let me know when it's finished, would love to give another listen! :)

Hi all.
...this one is in making for waaay to long. I'm not sure about those mlodies, sound design ... pretty much doubting the whole thing. (quite usual state for me, unfortunatelly)
Made some changes since I've posted thisone in Slack channel, but still not sure.

Isn't it just ... too much?

I really enjoyed this! It was great listening to some unique sounding DnB :)  The intro was beautiful and the transition into the kicks w/ the full beat sounded natural and logical to me.  I absolutely loved the main groove as well as the sections that start at 3:53 and 5:25, just put me in a great place of mind and was grooving my head off!

On the section shift at 1:30, I had similar thoughts to Babasmas above and felt like the groove was switching on me and could not continue the head bobbing that your beginning got me into :)  This likely had to do with your kick placement as I didn't think it had a common groove factor with the main section which caused the abruptness on my end.  However, at 2:00 I was right back into it.

Also to 2nd Babasmas on 3:00, this part was a cool concept but to me didn't sound like it was the same song.  This is obviously highly personal taste but I think that section could be spun off into a completely new song with a different vibe and be awesome in itself.  I would double check your notes as well in that section as it sounded to me like there was an abrupt key change from the main section to that, as well as the elements not sounding like they were completely in key with each other or working well to my ears.  Again this could be personal preference but you may want to double check and see if you agree on that.

I absolutely loved the outro as well and thought it was pretty brilliant.   I really love your unique style and vibe and looking forward to hearing more of your tracks!

I would continue in that chord progression a bit differently. Would change the third chord to a different one. But that's just a matter of taste. Also I'd add some more swooshes and noise FX.

But good job anyway! :)

Thanks so much, that is all extremely helpful! I can give your liquid dnb track a listen later tonight and get you some feedback too.

Would love to pick your brain a bit more on the chord progression suggestion which I really appreciate you offering!  This track is keyed to D Minor, would love to hear if you have any suggestions as to a chord or root note that you think would fit nicely for that third spot.  Or if you have any general advice on how to keep that chord progression going :)

Almost at the finish line for this track and wanted to check in before I finish it off. This one is a happy uplifting track, inspired by my long time love for progressive house and uplifting trance. Would love to hear your thoughts and critique!

let me know what do u think!! https://soundcloud.com/apeidon/hold-me

Fantastic arrangement man, this is great stuff!  To second the poster above me, adding a sub bass layer will definitely help and make it sound more "filled".  I like to use sine waves in a low octave for my sub layer.  Also, I think if you pan the layers so that they aren't all at 0 panning and throw in some stereo imaging to widen up the stereo on some of the layers it will sound more spread out and more like a wall of sound vs. a lot of layers playing on top of each other and competing for space.

I hope that helps man, cheers!

I've only finished a small part of the track, but you'll get the idea.

What do you think?

This sounds really great man, I am loving this so far!  Can't wait to see what you do for the whole track :)
