Finished Tracks / i am imago - Biceps | Progressive Deep House
« on: July 09, 2016, 11:52:23 pm »
Heya!

Just finished this, not sure if the high-end is a little bit to high? It is, no?

Had a lot of fun doing it and I'm sure I'll love this song when I'm high mostly cause of all the slow motion laughing

So I've idolized and loved music done by mat zo and arty the past like 6-7 years or so and i've finally reached a producing state where i can create sometihng which sounds slightly like their stuff! I'm totally pumped!

I'm not really there yet, with mastering and stuff, but i'm definitely getting there.

Tell me what ya think!

WIPs / is this too repetitive?
« on: May 23, 2016, 11:17:09 am »

Experimenting a little bit with different bpm's. 85bpm really seems to work for me, but i'm trying something new, although in my hears it's kind of too repetitive, is that cuz i've heard it so many times or is it really repetitive?

Posted it here in WIP, took your feedback into consideration and remade it. Turned out kinda cool!

Don't think i'll be fiddling about with it any more, i usually just tweak the songs apart.

Feedback for future songs would be highly appreciated though! Enjoy!

WIPs / Re: Would like some feedback on my WIP

Buildup is splendid! Really enjoyed it!

Break:

Synth needs to be more.. special.. I don't know what's wrong, if i did i'd be the one making all the super tracks. But it's sounds kind of too onesided, like it's "too easy". The snare/clap also needs work, try layering it with some other snares.

Overall i'd say it sounds kind of generic, but well.. Generic works as long as generic is top notch, so keep at i guess

WIPs / Re: Vae Victis - The Tournament (RAW MIX)
« on: May 14, 2016, 08:19:45 pm »
Thoughts as i listened:
0:38- vocal needs more echo
0:52- synth sounds very bland, not very interesting at all
1:20- nice buildup
1:35- unsure if this is supposed to be the break or if it's building up to sometihng

Only skimmed through the rest when i realized it's much of the same.

Imo, you need a stronger kick (i recommend getting Nicky Romero Kick) and you need to look up popular EDM/big house music tracks for song structure. Going into detail with all i'd like to see changed would take far to long time and I can't really explain why I feel some things sound off. Try DJing to see the similarities between the popular songs, because they really are similar and use the same  techniques

Since I've not been very present in the forums lately I don't expect much in return. But any critique would be appreciated! I'm still getting working on the last parts of the song

Any feedback is appreciated!

Finished Tracks / Heavy | "Chill" downtempo song
« on: March 06, 2016, 01:06:06 am »
Just got a new kick vst so i played around a little and produced this!

Quite pleased with it so far, i love how "dark" it became, kind of represents where i am in life right now. I'll probably spot a lot of errors when i listen to it again within a few days. I'd recommend downloading it since the bass isn't really coming through when using soundclouds 128 kbit version

Any superobvious newbie mistakes I'm doing? :) Any advice and feedback is appreciated!

EDIT: This is version 2, added some more variation to the first one

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Good kick plugin for FL studio
« on: March 05, 2016, 11:33:39 am »
Heya!

So I've always used sample packs in order to get kicks, but i just don't feel like sample packs give me the variety which i want anymore.

So, is there any plugins/vst that you guys recommend for making kicks/bass-ish sounds?

Thanks a bunch!

Right now i'm having like 10000 bookmarks, and that works somewhat good. But in the long run it will be tedious

... so yeah, yeah that would be very handy *also bookmarks this thread*

R&A Graveyard / Re: "Finished Tracks" Section Sucks rn

The difference with this site and many others is how easy it is to view a persons posts.

So, IMO, there should be a rule in the sticky which states what OP said (that one has to post feedback at least 3 times) in order to post a track themselves and if it's not followed the person gets timed out and or gets restricted access to creating threads.

And to ease the burden on the mods a simple "report user: not giving feedback" thing could be implemented.

This solution requires like... 2 sentences in the sticky and minimum amount of work from the users and mods, but will yield good results

It's great but once you click on the +1 the page reloads. Can't you change that?
It has to reload to count the +1 you've add
Facebook doesn't reload everytime you "Like" something.

It should be doable without reloading the site if you add the +1 to the database, but only change the html code to the site instead of reloading the site and retrieving the new value from the database. I'm no pro at databases (haven't done that course yet), but it should work

R&A Graveyard / Re: Perks for dedicated users?
« on: January 09, 2016, 12:32:22 pm »
Well, do you have any suggestions for perks? Some might work!

Personally I think it could lower the standards on the forum, instead of raising them.

For example:  having a postcount is standard on forums, but it creates some issues (especially when titles are involved).  I've seen this in some forums and people end up just posting a lot of qualityless posts all over the place, only to get a higher rank in the post system.
IMO, posting should only occur when one has something to add to the discussion/ some unsaid feedback/ similar. Every post should have quality and should be thought out, to create as high of a standard on the forum as possible. Having a post count makes (some, ofc, not all) people post-crazy, just posting stuff to increase their counter, to get a higher "rank" so they can say "look man! I'm totally a big deal over there!" and i think that a perk system would highly boost that effect.

As long as mods are active and keep an eye on shitposting, additional perks could work i guess. But i don't think that it's very necessary
