WIPs / chill hip hop / ambient stuff [mixing advice plzzz]
« on: April 08, 2016, 09:28:46 pm »
hi guys :)

just started working on a new project, semi inspired by nujabes but also very reminiscent of N64 instrumentation. would love to get some advice on mixing and such so that it vibes super well.

you guys are the best; this forum rocks.

thanks :)

thanks so much! yeah, the drums are super lo-fi and drowned on purpose. i really dig the way it all blends with the synths that i'm using.

thanks so much for the feedback! :) :)

hi guys :)

i just posted a little beat that i made on SC the other day, it would be awesome to hear feedback on it! it's nothing too special, it's just a short thing that i was working on that i wanted to share. let me know what you think!

harsh feedback is encouraged, don't feel bad if you have critical points to make :)

IKIS:

this helps a ton. Definitely going for the lo-fi vibe with the lack of hi end in the percussion, but I think you raise a valid point with adding some hi end rich content to spice things up (could make for some interesting fills).

the break is the FX from going to the home menu on a 3DS, which always cuts your game audio in a really awkward stutter. it's intentionally abrupt, and i know most people will share your reaction, but it's a super geeky little reference that i enjoy so i'll probably keep it there because i'm lame lol

thanks for the feedback! this is super helpful for fresh insight into it.

hi guys :)

i've posted a few wips on here and i always get really great advice and tips, leading to an even cleaner final product. that being said, i figured i'd throw this little beat that i've been working on up here too, to see if there's any advice that you could give me. thanks so much for listening and giving me some of your time. i really, really appreciate it.

also, harsh feedback is welcome. it leads to the best results!

thanks for the response! Yeah, the percussion is minimal, but right now it's just too minimal. Definitely will look into adding some more percussive elements so that it doesn't get too droning.

Thanks again :)

hi guys :)

started this wip the other day, would LOVE to get critical feedback so i can turn it into something better. don't be afraid to get super nit-picky, that kind of criticism is the most helpful i think.

thanks so much!

Finished Tracks / Re: The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby (Altruze & Torrus Remix)
« on: February 28, 2016, 10:25:49 pm »
this is literally the last thing i imagined someone would remix lol

the production is really good :) i don't listen to this style much, but from a technical standpoint, it holds up really well. I'm not listening on monitors, so i don't have a great reference, but from where I'm at, the mix sounds pretty clean!

props to have the guts to remix a Beatles track too, most people would never touch their work.

idk if anyone's said this, but J.viewz has to be one of the most inspirational, groundbreaking producers out there. I don't really see much talk of him very often, but he's one of my favorites, without a doubt.

Mixing/Mastering / Antiphase....?

Hi everyone :)

Just wondering if anybody has good advice on how to control antiphasing in your production, or even just more information on exactly what it is and why it exists. I've been searching the internet before I asked here, and I've only found a few sources that give some good information on it. Would love to hear if anybody else has experience with it and how to deal with it in your own work.

Cheers :)

hi guys :)

i made this short little song out of a sample from my old 3DS (because i'm literally one of the most uncool people you know). it's far from being perfect, but i'm happy with the way it turned out and thought i would share it with you guys.

would love constructive criticism and feedback, thanks for listening :)
