I use presets all the time, simply due to the fact that they make my workflow 10x better. When I have an idea in my head, I wanna get it down quick as possible, and sometimes going through presets can help find a sound in my head that I can't quite get down.
I do however, almost always tweak them in someway or another to fit whatever I'm doing. But when you're trying to get a rough idea of a track down, sometimes going through like 10 lead presets to find something quickly can seriously help moving on to the next thing in a project, rather than spending an hour trying to make the exact sound you want.
I do however think its kinda cheesy when you listen to a track and you recognize a preset right away. And I respect people who make their own sounds themselves from scratch.
