i have a bunch of pots/pans/general metallic object hits that were kindly given to me for sampling, metal hits sound so great and i love layering them with various other percussive sounds, sampling in general is just fun af

Came across this sample pack at some point: https://www.facebook.com/Neurohop/app/161683100556760/

I have NHF_01 and it has a lot of cool foley samples.  I'll consider grabbing them the next time I'm working on a project.

Frequent's 8k sample pack is fucking awesome, there are so many cool foley samples in there. Also the NHF packs have incredible drum one-shots.

Hands down one of the best packs I've downloaded is Seism by GlitchMachines. Even better that it's free!  :D

I use soundsnap for all my foley. All professional grade sounds and they have a good search feature. It is not free though

same boat as you man. At this point I think a microphone/recorder it's a must have. You can do wonders with foley if you get creative with processing (well that goes for almost anything but the fact that you can record things in the spot gives you almost endless possibilities).

Freesound.org is constantly getting new user-submitted content, so it can be neat to just browse or search through it and see what comes up!

Freesound is great for sure for general foley.
Sample packs-wise I love the deadmau5 percussion pack for all my generic drums, the sakuraburst sample pack is great for inspiration and the polar youth sample pack is awesome for some really unique perc samples. All should be easy google searches

Cymatics did a bunch of sample and but up Walmart and Home Depot samples up on reddit for free. There's another guy who sampled a bunch of pots and pans and called it Kitchen Fam.

I was actually about to mention the Walmart pack! It's got some great foley percs in it.

foley and field recording samples are crucial af to basically everything i make at this point lol. they add so much texture and depth and can be really effective percussive tools if you use em right

all the resources people have mentioned so far are great. i can't stress enough how helpful it is to have a microphone with you (even a shitty one) to record whatever sound might come into your mind, or to just take with you on walks and pick up the sounds of leaves rustling, water, etc. plus if the microphone sucks, the artifacts in the low-quality sound could actually be used to your advantage.

i'd be willing to put together a .zip of some foley/field recordings i've collected from friends and recorded myself (it wouldn't contain any material that's illegal to share), shoot me a PM if ur interested :^)

I've used my iPhone's Voice Memo and recorded myself while I was walking around at work for a few minutes. I exported it to Ableton after work and used a piece of it. It's a pretty cheap DIY way haha
