Perks for dedicated users?
« on: January 09, 2016, 06:16:53 am »
Something such as a reward of some sort would be cool for those who are super active in discussion, feeback, etc. Not really familiar with how a forum works, but would be cool if something like this is possible! Gives us more of a reason to be active!

A badge or achievements system would be really cool!

Isn't that what the titles above our pictures are for?

Well the titles could be the determination of who is active and who isn't. The reward could be something separate!

we're not going to do perks because we want everyone on here to be equal

Sorry, not a fan. People should participate in discussion because they want to participate in discussion, not because there are other incentives.

I mean it doesn't have to be the "hey im better than you" kind of thing. Could be a way of saying thank you to the person for using the site as often as they do

I highly doubt anyone would be here strictly for the reward.

yeah i get that but the whole premise of this site is to have everyone basically be COMPLETELY equal, not putting anyone on some sort of pedestal

Strictly? Probably not. But its really not necessary imo, and internet communities have enough of a tendency to get weird about things like that. Its a forum about music production, not club penguin.

Then again, depends how its implemented, and to what extent. I think we can all agree though that this kind of thing isn't on the admin's list of priorities.

Yeah it's definitely not necessity. It was just a simple fun suggestion that I personally think is entertaining. kind of like the rewards you get in xbox/playstation haha

Well, do you have any suggestions for perks? Some might work!

Personally I think it could lower the standards on the forum, instead of raising them.

For example:  having a postcount is standard on forums, but it creates some issues (especially when titles are involved).  I've seen this in some forums and people end up just posting a lot of qualityless posts all over the place, only to get a higher rank in the post system.
IMO, posting should only occur when one has something to add to the discussion/ some unsaid feedback/ similar. Every post should have quality and should be thought out, to create as high of a standard on the forum as possible. Having a post count makes (some, ofc, not all) people post-crazy, just posting stuff to increase their counter, to get a higher "rank" so they can say "look man! I'm totally a big deal over there!" and i think that a perk system would highly boost that effect.

As long as mods are active and keep an eye on shitposting, additional perks could work i guess. But i don't think that it's very necessary

I would write something here, but I'm too lazy to do so
