The only kind of rewards that I would find acceptable would be for people really helping, posting tutorials and very good sources of information.
Having certain rewards for posting a lot is a bit too much "forcing people to post", especially when big forums like this one most likely contains a very high amount of lurkers.

I mean it doesn't have to be the "hey im better than you" kind of thing. Could be a way of saying thank you to the person for using the site as often as they do

yeah i get that but the whole premise of this site is to have everyone basically be COMPLETELY equal, not putting anyone on some sort of pedestal

Then you should really consider putting the verification marks only on the profile page :)

The verification marks have nothing to do with that. It's to verify that someone is who they say they are. It's not some VIP deal they have with the admins.

Right. Read the post I linked; checkmark on the profile page = "I can verify this is who they say they are." checkmark on every post: "This poster is notable"

I can respect that. I'm on both sides though. Either way works for me, but I understand where you're coming from now.

Saves people a click though, and I'm sure we are all smart enough not to let a blue checkmark influence our idea of what another person's value is.

I'm just saying, it directly contradicts the "completely equal, no pedestal" reasoning that the mods cited in response to the perks question.

I wouldn't say so as verified users dont get any privileges, better treatment or "perks". It's just a little trust symbol.

To me that the frequency range ranking is enough, the real nature of the forum should be people collaborate in a mutual way, everybody here is just trying share and learn something positive.

Exactly. The way it works now, the tick is more a sign of prestige.

For example, I have no idea who Volant is, but the mark tells me they're someone whose opinion counts on these boards because they're notable enough to be verified. I never asked myself, "is this THE Volant, the REAL Volant?", so I had no reason to verify their identity. In my opinion, a tick on the profile page still allows those who do recognize the name to verify, without creating a caste system of Important Posters and Unimportant Posters.

If that's your perception of it, I can understand your concerns. However, I don't think that it's the general consensus in this forum to dismiss what unverified people say as "not important". Discrimination is against the board rules, we must all treat each other as equally important and with kindness, no matter if blue tick or not. I think we all read the rules and consider each other of equal value, I haven't noticed that someone without the blue tick is being treated lesser than someone who does have it. I personally find that unverified users post a lot of very useful things, I do not even look at whether someone has the tick or not. If I discriminate you, I will get removed just as much as you will if you discriminate me. There is no privilege.

Anyway, as someone who doesn't run the forum or moderate it, I don't think I'm in a position where I should be posting opinions on the subject as they hardly matter.

the point of the verified tick mark is purely to show that the profile isn't an impersonator (we've had a few of them already). having it displayed everywhere saves everyone a click and reduces confusion. if, to you, it looks like it's creating some sort of "caste system", then so be it. but that's not the point of it whatsoever.
