WIPs / Re: Chill Electronica!
« on: July 05, 2016, 05:21:32 pm »
hi!

I really like this, a very pretty melody and chord combination, I would make the kick a bit quieter (or maybe reduce the punch a bit w EQ) but only slightly...
apart from that it's hard to say as it seems like the track is just starting and could end up much longer, hope this helps!

very ominous, sounds like a pretty solid intro track!

I think you could keep building up the track until the end, maybe so you have this wall of sound type thing which abruptly cuts off, add to the impact of the introduction

just my thoughts, hope it helps  :)

hi!

I wouldn't say there is that much wrong with this, it is fairly coherent and stays pretty interesting throughout  :)

I would say that the white noise at the drops could do with a little turning down or filtering, as it stands out quite sharply, taking over the mix instead of just filling it out.

i'll add anything else I can think of later!

Thank you very much man! I'm glad you said something about the kick because I definitely hear it now.  Maybe it's because I tried to make it with Romero Kick.  I'll add some beef!

Just edited the SC link.  I replaced the file so it is the same link as the original above :D

I can definitely hear the difference, sits much nicer!

you are totally not amateur producer ... :P

this is pretty cool! maybe mess with the 'it g ma' lead a bit so it blends a bit better (unless this is a it g ma remix or something)

Thanks !!

It's not It G Ma remix or kinda thing.

just I use that  for making sound fun.

Anyways Thanks !! :)

ah ok! nice beat man  :D

hey this sounds good, It's sort of like chill, vaguely trap inspired neuro

the only thing that stands out to me as a bit off is the kick, it doesn't seem to sit very well in the mix (maybe too much mid/high end, not enough low?). that being said I'm not too familiar with neuro so this might be the usual style for kicks

either way it's a pretty nice composition you've got there, well done!

I love nomak! Didn't know you guys knew who he was. I didn't even know he was in alesia. D:

All the jazz-hop guys nujabes, nomak, marcus D, DJ Okiwari, Uyama hiroto are my faves. <3

aren't there two different nomaks? one with the Ö and the jazz hop one?

edit: his new song w/ araatan is insane, definitely worth listening to:

this is pretty good tbh, the main thing that stands out to me is the lead that comes in at 2:30, 3:50 and 4:50, it just feels a little out of place, perhaps altering the synth patch slightly could help, or maybe bringing the note off where the snare hits creating a little rest. Or maybe having the piano play chords as instead of the lead as we haven't really heard much of the piano in the higher ranges.
just a few thoughts, hope they help and I'd be interested to hear an update if you do change anything!

WIPs / Re: Sweet Wave Racer project

hi, it's quite hard to give feedback w/out drums so this might be terrible advice but then again it could help... I think the track could benefit from more attention to the mix, especially in the first verse, as there is a lot going on and it becomes quite hard to follow the main part.

also, although the drums will definitely play a large part in this, it might be a good idea to give the track more of a rhythmic pulse/groove; as this, for me at least, is one of the things wave racer really does well.

hope this is of some use and hmu if you need any elaboration on the tips!  ;D

This is pretty sweet! The chorus/drop is really well done on the whole, imo the nice little descending scale that comes in on the 2nd 16 bars of the drop could be a bit more prominent in the mix or perhaps doubled by another instrument.
Also the break type thing after the 2nd build could perhaps be more contrasting to the verse before it e.g. more silence/space as it sort of just seems like 2nd, smaller build atm
These are just compositional suggestions as I can't really think of any technical problems, so feel free 2 disregard!

I 2nd the kick thing the other guys said, also (it may just be me being nitpicky) but perhaps lower the volume/ cut some of the freqs of the white noise track so it is more in the background.
apart from that this is a lovely chill beat!

Thanks guys, yeah i've changed the saw and I just noticed the piano now, for some reason FL studio sometimes makes loads of errors while rendering and it seems to be a Kontakt error but I think I've fixed it.

Anyway here is the "fixed" version with a better mixdown and it doesn't sound like someone is drilling your temple :)

Hey this mixdown is way better, really makes a world of difference, good job!  :D
