-Fuck presets, start making your own sounds. It might be hard at the beginning but it's 100% worth.
-Try different DAWs, maybe you'll find one that fits you better. This might be unpopular but after 4-5 years using FL Studio I just found out how much I like Bitwig.
-Don't be afraid to experiment with different genres: you'll learn a lot.

I think there's not an actual answer for that, it really depends on your track and what you're aiming for. If the final result sound muddy and crowded is because there's too much layers or because you haven't mixed them properly (sometimes both xD) so my advice is to make sure those layers you have are really adding something to the track, if not, just remove them.

Also, adding a ton of elements doesn't really mean your track won't be repetitive, try to use the same sounds in different ways to keep the song interesting.

Thats it I guess

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Reverb on the entire mix?

I've heard about people adding reverb but I've never tried it myself. Would it work on a chill track with lots of strings and stuff?

I'm using Bitwig and I love it, I just think its default plugins are worse than FL's or Ableton's, which are the other 2 DAWs I've tried.

WIPs / Noctilucent - All Alone (VOIID Remix) - Chill Track WIP

Er... Hi or something e.e

Since almost all I heard were lame dubstepy remixes of this track I tried to make something more beautiful. The problem is that I feel like the build-up isn't very good and I don't know how to continue the track.

WIPs / Re: Is almost done but I currently have 2 versions

I like A version more, but I feel like both have the same problem: the melodic drop at 2:23 sounds muddy, that part really needs some level balance and better EQ
