Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: Producing Under the Influence
« on: April 20, 2016, 06:28:12 pm »
I like doing mixdowns after smoking weed. However, sometimes I end up doing shit completely wrong and have to re-do everything in the mix the next day. I am much less judgemental on my mixes when high.

Creaeating ideas from scratch is amazing while smokingn weed. I especially love doing weird melodies when high.

I am considering to microdose LSD to boost my cognitive functions while producing, however this would first be in the summer. I've tried producing on 220ug LSD before, but I get too overwhelmed to actually make anything.

Alkohol is not my cup of tea, it makes me too dizzy, so I never make anything. One beer is fine, though.

Cymatics.fm have always been shady. They got where they are by adding random people on fb, spamming, dumb download gates that follow random accounts, and shit.

I end up using almost all of my time making the drop of and song and use waay too little time on breakdowns, I usually make my kicks WAAAY too loud when starting a track and I also tend to over compress things alot.

I have a hard time hearing the difference between white noise. I am not sure that vst's are that different in their creation of white noise? I like to hi-pass until I hear that it doesen't affect other sounds, when mixing white noise. However I also that with all other sounds, usually.

I like to think that I make music for myself to enjoy first. Then you can stop caring about other peoples opinion.
However self-critic is super essential, and I do like to ask people(who I know have good ears) to give feedback.

AND FUCKING MR. OIZO AND SEBASTIAN! + DANGER
If you´re 12 years old, then you really shouldn´t be using such language.  You might need it around Deadmau5 tho´....
nah, my old personal text was just a play on those "hello i am 12yo producer, plz hear my tunes".... sadly I am just another 19 yo old fart nerd

Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, ATTLAS and Steve Duda.
Oh, and of course Richard D. James .

Nobody mention BitSpeek yet? I guess it doesn't necessarily take any work out of the process as it takes a bit of tweaking in order to still sound musical but complete FSU and usually invites at least a few new ideas into the creative process.

kill the noise use it in alot of his stuff, yee.

If I feel unmotivation I try producing music in another genre than I usually would.

pro q-2 linear phase maximum to cut out around 18-19000hz and the lows that I don't need.
glue compressor, because fuck yeah!
random ozone shit, then ending with maximizer.
sometimes I use the fab pro-L to make everything a tiny bit louder.

(I have no fucking idea what I am doing)
You really should not highpass in linear phase mode as a standard technique, it can often cause ugly pre-ringing effects on transients (kicks) and therefore make your lowend more messed up than before the cut.

woah, I didn't know that. thanks! won't in the future.

1. Don't use too much time trying to make up your own style/sound, it will come eventually. Just make what you feel sounds good.
2. Presents are fine, don't feel too guilty if you use them. Just use them in a way that makes it sound unique and like yours. Also don't use too much time trying to learn each and every vst by reading the manual, instead try endlessly tweaking presents until you know what the fuck is going on and you can make that sound from scratch.
3. Most importantly, don't stop doing it. Keep on making music, its fucking amazing.
