He's talking about this: http://www.razerzone.com/store/gaming-systems
they have different models and if you know what you are doing you can take apart most laptops (be careful of course) and upgrade ram and ssds yourself.
It's a PC and probably one of, if not, the best windows based production laptop out there, I would say if you are into Macs a lot of producers use them as well but depends on your operating system preference.
I personally hate laptops with a passion, so I built my computer and sacrificed portability for infinite cpu and ram! Most people are on the go though and laptops are extremely versatile so there is a definite tradeoff.

I think of my audience, there are two things people will see before they click to listen on your track. 1 the title. 2 the artwork. What describes the track? how do you want to "prime" your audience for what to expect before listening to your track? its like setting the context before telling the story.

2:35 if you want to make that part stronger i would consider layering it a bit more, with some sort of impact to give it that epic feel. The intro was for me lacking, maybe increase the reverb on the piano or add a background pad. The main problem you want to work on is layering and adding the subtle accents that will make your track much more powerful and emphasize specific elements and transitions. Good ideas just more detail would have done it for me. What I liked were the modulations you had on your synths, especially on the drops- very future bass like and was perfect for this sort of track.
this guy does a very good job of having intricate detail, i would advise picking apart each element as you listen and just think about how all these parts  - although different are very cohesive and add more and turn a simple melody into a complex arrangement of sounds. I hope this helped  :-\

Ya know I was considering shaving off some of the higher frequencies but I decided to just keep it since a lot of speakers tend to boost the bass over the highs, i really wanted them to cut through and sound as crisp as possible but there were times while I was mixing this in the end when I thought that it might be a bit overwhelming..

this is awesome, I think the mix is a little shrill but I might just be sensitive to that. Sounds great for the most part.

man i love the modulations on your leads! I've seen this problem a lot around the forums but its the kick and the low ends that are rather weak in this track. I would either switch out that kick to something a bit more aggressive with a punch at the beginning or boost the current one by sidechain compressing the other channels playing at the same time to give the kick a lot more space. This way you can make the kick fatter.

Thanks for the kind words! I listen to all kinds of music, from classical to break core to chiptune so I throw in lots of elements that might inspire me from those tracks. I took a big gap in uploading music to learn a lot of mixing and processing techniques so my older tracks will sound nowhere near as polished as this one - just warning you hehe. This track had around 50+ channels and the only way I produce is off of a custom desktop computer that I built last year so I never have to worry about the work load :) if you're interested in specs I posted about it a while back on an older forum post here!

We all have to start somewhere! My biggest criticism is the kick, its fighting against too many sounds and doesn't have that definition, if you havent already, I would mess around more with side chain compression and making sure there is enough space for that kick to come through the mix! Im a big fan of the way you use the fx, none seemed out of place and happened at the appropriate time. keep on producin :) sounds good for a first song

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Music Production device "PC/Laptop"
« on: January 12, 2016, 04:57:35 am »
Before I got into production I was really into building my own computers and gaming.
These days I use it solely for producing and it might be overkill but here are the specs:
Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4.0 ghz stock speed
Sabertooth z97 motherboard
16gb of ram
Geforce gtx 980
740gb of ssd
1tb hard drive

and my audio interface is a scarlet 2i2

Im pretty set on the production machine but only thing that gets me is portability since I don't own a laptop. I get so frustrated with the limited computing power by laptops--the specs i would be satisfied with are just way too expensive..

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Experience with sub pacs?
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:38:52 pm »
Hi everyone,
I currently use a pair of yamaha hs8s and although they deliver incredible response above ~120 hz, anything below seems to be lacking.
Since I produce out of my bedroom, which is fairly small, buying a sub like the hs8s may do more damage than good because my room is not treated.
Which brings me to the sub pacs, I've seen my fair share of videos and so far the reviews seems to be overall positive. Just wanted to see if others have any thoughts or advice? Currently my work around is a spectrum analyzer to visualize these frequencies but that can only go so far.
