Melodic sensibility and good sound in general is definitely there. The thing that gives your song its personality is the lead. Let the chords play for a bit, then introduce the lead - it will have more impact. I feel like this could really use a female vocal, maybe it could be the basis for a remix?

To give a short explanation, I was really in my feelings when I made this and wanted to have a lot of things going on melodically to create a really pleasant, immersive experience. Is there anything that throws you off?

This sounds like a professional piece of work, great sense of rhythm and I felt compelled to keep listening throughout. Only thing is I hear a vocal

Finished Tracks / Re: You call this Music? (New Babylon Mechanics)

Very intriguing and compelling work, well-balanced and organic sound, and best of all original. Thoroughly enjoyed listening from beginning to end. Gave you a like, follow, and RP on soundcloud! Based on what I've heard in the best-selling electronica section on Bandcamp, a body of work with your type of sound and style could do very well. Excellent work

I'm feeling actually starting the song on the drop, it would set a really nice tone.

WIPs / Feedback on vibey prog house track!

Hey all! To give some background on what I'm trying to say musically: simple enough to follow, detailed enough to get lost in, not trying to blow your ears off. I'm excited to have begun the process of going through my projects and polish things up, but my fear is that I'll start overthinking and over-complicate things. So my question is: how complete does this feel? Feel free to be as blunt as you like, I haven't had much honest criticism of my work and am really craving it at this point. In case the link doesn't work, here's another embed:

If you want it to 'howl' a little bit use some resonance on the cutoff of the LP filter.

Sound Design / Re: bass distortion
« on: December 22, 2016, 06:06:01 pm »
This sounds like nothing more than a square-wave based synth patch. The reason you are hearing distortion is that a distorted signal is a regular signal with the peaks chopped off to resemble a square wave, but this sound is cleaner and less crunchy than an actual distorted signal. It sounds like there might be either some noise or a more heavily detuned layer underneath but if you want to create a very similar sound I would say a square wave is going to be your starting point and forget about distortion. Often times we over-complicate things because we think that something that sounds so good to us MUST have gone through a rigorous and meticulous process of creation when 90% of the time it's just something really simple.

Momentum is simple:

"Why should I keep listening?"
